A good start
Its an ok game, It would help if there were more variety, and a slightly better menu system. It does seem like the game was designed top down first, then was set as side scrolling.

Good start, but I would like to see explosions, ect. all in the same style as your sprites (which I loved btw). Also the sound stopped playing at one moment.

The controls are simple and it kills some time but if you intend to make a sequel you could label each different power up differently and maybe add in some gun upgrades and tougher enemies, but this is still good for a first game :D
