Nice idea, needs some work
I like the idea. This is one of the more interesting concepts of job simulation simply because of the humor. The graphics are adorable and the cutscenes are clever. The idea of journalists trapped in a room with managers bashing them and living on nothing but coffee is just priceless.
WIth that said, this game does fall flat rather quickly. I found it incredibly hard to manage any more than 8 people in the room, I had 4 hired journalists and 3 managers, totaling in nine people plus the two you started with and it was just hell. Thankfully the articles didn't require clicking to obtain, or I would've just given up way earlier. But there's just too much clicking involved in such small things and on one particular level, three zombies entered through the door simultaneously and it was immediately destructive to the environment. I lost people to the zombies and also to the time wasted clicking furiously at the zombies to kill them.
Here are my suggestions.
There should be some kind of reward upon killing enemies. They take up a substantial amount of time to kill and this time of neglect often results in death to the hired people because their needs are just so ridiculously quick.
I also wished there was an upgradeable feature somewhere. Maybe upgrade certain journalists so they produce better quality stuff or upgrade managers so that the triple produce they give on occasion isn't always green. It's frustrating having such a low production rate of those higher rated articles.
Ultimately, games like these often fall to the rhythm of 'let's see how much you can click and multitask till your fingers break and your brain explodes'. And that kills the fun once you reach the limit. What you could've done is ease the burden a little as the levels progressed - there is only so much a person can click at the same time. Maybe have assistants for hire which help feed the people coffee and paychecks. Or have the upgraded coffee machine a self service so that one doesn't need to concentrate on that after a while. Something just to lighten the load as things go along.
The joy in games like these is upgrading a facility, not just the challenge of clicking as many things as possible at a go. As the game progresses, the small trivial tasks need to be removed so that one can concentrate on larger things. Strike a balance with the clicking and the whole idea of building an empire.
All this being said, I did enjoy myself - up until the 'earn 5000' per level. Since it was impossible for me to increase my rate of production any more than the amount of people that I had and the upgrades I already bought, I didn't have the patience to play day after day earning meager 400-500 dollars. That killed it for me.
A good idea, but certainly could use some work.
