Reviews for "Metal Arena 3"

Fun for a while

While I had fun with the first 3 columns, the fourth one suffered due to the excessively large map compared to the other sections. (With the cannon the vast majority of units can be sniped before reaching the player) The map size and slow enemy release also make it hard to reach any good scores since the combo meter rests at 0 most of the time.

There seems to be a bug in the big cannon as it has mre power than all other weapons including the ultimate plasma weapon, being able to one or two shot many of the enemies that the plasma would take 6+, leading me to think that there is a bug in the code that allows the bullets to pass through enemies (looks like damage output is counted multiple times)

While I do not mind the AI that endlessly marches toward the player, the difficulty at the end fell due to the lack of variation within each wave as there is never a real mixture of units. (High power collision units just do not have many chances without a large swarm of bullet units to distract the player)

Meh

Workshop is stacked with options, which is great when you have a valid upgrade path. That said, the final gun sucks. I worked pretty hard to get a gun that is outperformed by one two levels under it.

Dabacon had a good point in that you have to farm for a usable amount of gold. Maybe add a multiplier for the combo to give you more gold for more health? Seems like someone who can manage to beat a level w/o getting hit should be rewarded.

Maybe revamp the bullet clipping also. Seems like I get hit with bullets that are a good ways from me.

Good start on a decent game.

Basic.

I found the game to be quite generic in every sense. The names of the weapons were generic, the enemies were pretty generic, the tanks were generic, the backgrounds were generic. It was just nothing special altogether. It was plain. It was okay, I mean it wasn't bad, but it was just plain.

I had a recurring problem of the game freezing which forced me to reload the entire page, and that got on my nerves after a while so I quit playing.

Really, on your next game, just up the ante in every regard. I suggest you make the tank movement a little more boxy. Moonwalking your land boat left and right was really kind of lame. Give the guns different effects. More flare for energy weapons, and less orange blobs for ammunition based weapons. Make enemies strafe you. Even shooting enemies just headed on a crash course, so they were suicide enemies with really weak guns. Make the fighting area bigger as well. Can't tell you how many times I tried to get a superior angle on an enemy and they just grazed the tip of my gun barrel.

Give the player the ability to pick different camo options for the tank. Maybe instead of just plain hunks of armor with standard layouts, spice it up a little. Bring some WW1 and WW2 designs into the game. Modern designs like the Merkava and the ever popular Abrams. Make the armor on the tanks show the damage they receive. Doesn't have to be perfect, just shell pits and burn marks.

Keep some of the futuristic weapons though. Energy weapons are always a favorite, but make them have chance special effects, such as 20% for EMP or something.

I know it's a lot, but take them as merely ideas.

5 for the generic game. You got basics down, now make it shine.

I wish I could score this higher...

I really do. But the difficulty killed this game for me. It has a lot of potential, a great weapon/armor/upgrade system, but dreadfully easy enemies. Attacks did too little damage (especially when I got the higher armors going), and were too infrequent. It seems like you didn't turn up the difficulty enough on the later levels, as they had the same AI as the ones at the beginning. And what's with spawning one enemy with lots of hit points and NOT giving it the ability to beamspam? Made it way too easy to just circle it and kill it. To put this into perspective for you, the last level was about the difficulty I would expect on about level 12 or 13.
Also, the mines appeared to have no purpose whatsoever and were shoddily animated compared to the rest of the game. Put in some exploding animations for the mines, and put the mines in the air instead of on the ground. The enemies are flying, ground mines would be absolutely useless.

...

I played this game to see how they do play.
I've seen how they do grammar fail.

Please get an english speaker to fix. They do know better.
