A Step In The Wrong Direction
I loved Robot Loves Kitty, and I see Robot Wants Puppy as a step down from that strong start.
The problem is the cat throwing mechanics. First off, any enemy you throw Kitty at veers straight at you. I can't tell you how many times I was killed when an enemy suddenly changed directions to home in on me when it got hit by Kitty.
Maybe that's a design choice to make it harder, but it felt extremely cheap. A challenge isn't a challenge if it's unfair.
Also, until you got the callback powerup going to pick Kitty back up after you threw it was a pain, and often ended up killing me. Again, needless difficulty.
The game's complexity and exploration is very enjoyable, but the gameplay was not pleasurable because of the attacking mechanics.

The only reason, is because that you know, robots and kittys, HAVNT YOU SEEN THEM IN ACTION KITTY DESTROYS ROBOTS AND DOGS BARK AT THEM ALL DAY I WOULD KNOW I CREATED A ROBOT

Excellent game, purr-fect even (sorry)
Loved the game when I got into it (the start was a little hard- but after the 1st upgrade or so it's ok).
But what I'd really like is a map of the level (not revealing the whole thing from the start (too easy then!), but maybe one which maps your progress as you go (if you get what I mean here- so you an only see where you've been.))
Apart from that- you've got the rest sorted; appropriate music that doesn't get annoying, the difficulty is well balanced- providing a decent challenge without being frustrating, and I love the pixelated graphics.
btw- the pic at the end reminds me of Garfield!
