Reviews for "ImmorTall"

Simply Incredible

In all my years watching and partaking in the art that is flash i've not seen something this emotionally powerful.

From the very beginning I felt something for the family. Whether it was the young girl who had bravely chosen to treat me with compassion rather than run or shun me. Or the boy who offered me food and trusted me with is well being, riding on my back. But most affecting were the parents, rationally thinking people who despite the fact that I am strange, accept me and entrust me with the saftey of not only themselves, but the entire family.

When the bullets flew I fought to save the family, I genuinely cared about their well being. Even moreso following my crushing failure to save the father and son. As I watched the women weep I renewed my quest with added ferver. No matter how slowly I paced I never gave up.

When I finally fell and watched tears and snowfall rain down on my body I wasn't sad. Despite everything I felt like I had saved a life, that I had helped someone.

Then I remembered it was just a game, and that it was a game, that had affected me this much.

Thank you very much for the experience.

ImmorTall is a game about the people who play it and how they choose to respond. People will see what they want to see. They expose themselves in the comments box.

If you found it that moving and uplifting, especially right from the start, I think that says good things about your character, personally.

I have to say....

This was not something I expected....I thought it was very, very interesting. I liked it. I mean, it was short, but it was just beautiful. The music in it was touching to me, made me cry a bit actually. I mean, it was probably the best one I've seen out of the short games.

Love It

I love the experiential "games" that are starting to make their way, as a genre, to the players. While I enjoy gaming, always have, prolly always will, I think the idea that a game has to be a win or lose is antiquated. An interactive experience is all that is required, and the idea of "cinematic" games is actually taking the interaction OUT OF GAMING.

Poignant, simple, and meaningful. I enjoyed it very much.

Bleh

Didn't much like it. It played well, but the fact that it was basically an interactive movie was what cost it...
@Random: ...Also, the humans it protected had fed it. It's not even certain it's sentient, it could have just been the alien equivalent of a dog that followed the girl home. xP ...So yeah.

acrazycanadian responds:

That's a really cool thought. He could definitely be mindless. There's a whole set of new meanings you could get out of that.

"Humanity"

The point was that the alien was being humane, while the solders were not. However, I found it cliche' that the soldiers would just show up guns-blazing and start killing innocent civilians while trying to stop an alien when they have no clue what its intent, origin, firepower or consequence of attacking is.

Thankfully, our own government is smart enough to just tranq-dart aliens and drag them to Area 51 these days, then hold them hostage until others show up, and we can forcibly take their technology while sticking their genetics onto a slide that will be kept in that warehouse where the Ark of the Covenant was stored after Indiana Jones recovered it.

But I'm just speculating...

Nice piece of film noir. Two thumbs up.

acrazycanadian responds:

It's also possible that the alien has just stumbled into a pre-existing conflict and his presence is totally coincidental. Food for thought. It's open for interpretation.
