Reviews for "Bloons Super Monkey"

Interesting.

Just like every other Bloons game - the last level is impossible to beat.

Just okay.

The upgrades are mediocre at best, and some flat out are worse than the steps before them.
Many of the levels need to be reworked, as only specific upgrade paths can even pass them. With no retry button for individual levels and no way of knowing what upgrades are actually viable in the upcoming levels, this makes the game more frustrating than fun.

satisfating and adiccting

i like to hear the sound of bloons exploding is like earn points for echach sound

An interesting marriage of ideas.

This game is certainly not your average top down shooter. It actually is a very ambitious combination of the TD genre and the shooter. It's almost as if it's a TD in reverse with the tower moving around the balloons.

The game plays extremely well and the joy of popping balloons never gets old.

But, I don't think it worked for the most part. The thing about this game is that it gets tiring very fast and the gameplay doesn't change. By combining the elements of a top down shooter with your TD style games, you've left a huge part out of the traditional RaidenX style games which makes them fun - the defensive element. This game is just level after level of moving the monkey around and hoping that your upgrades are enough to take out the required balloons. It takes out that huge chunk from the top down shooter and leaves it very dull. it just becomes a repetitive motion. And since the levels tend to fly by really fast, there isn't really any aiming involved. It's just moving to the general are of the balloons and hoping for the best.

The upgrades don't seem to be able to cope with the escalating difficulty either. Maybe this is because alot of the upgrade points are lost because they are actually hard to collect with the balloons never ceasing and whizzing past. Maybe a stronger magnet upgrade as well to increase the amount of points gathered. The upgrades themselves don't seem to be well suited to the level design. I think the weapons need more spread versus concentrated power because most of the levels have the balloons coming at you in a large fat row and the weapons are so focused that it usually takes out only a small part of that oncoming wave.

It's an interesting idea to combine the two gaming elements together. I just don't think it worked too well. Maybe it would've been great as a simple casual top scoring shooter - maybe just one level - but it didn't quite work on this scale.

Awesome
