Reviews for "Chaos Chamber"

Neat

It is a decent enough game - quite addictive too.

It does get quite repetitive after a while and I decided to quit after level 15. Could use some more different 'bombs' or things to make it more interesting later on. I wasn't sure t why a vertical section was blocked after it was filled to the maximum, I suppose that was to make it harder? It seemed to make it easier as there were less sections to keep an eye on.

JoUBG responds:

Yea It makes it easier to maintain, but the overall losing condition is that you run out of space on the grid, so it's bringing you closer to game over. Also the game funnels blocks that would drop on iron columns into empty sockets, so you end up getting more than you can handle in the tiny little space you have left. :)

The colors

three shades of gray? pink and purple? I had trouble telling the blocks apart some of the time. I know they had dots, and what not, but i still found it a little hard to tell at a quick glance. not a major problem, but it gave me a headache after a bit...

Needs more defined graphics.

Not a bad game, definitely has room to grow into something worth playing for the sequel. I love these types of games, but my biggest qualm with it is the graphics. Maybe it's because the orbs are all too small, or because in many cases the only differences are the shades of one color. This wouldn't be so bad if you didn't punish a single bad press by locking up a group of block when you did so. Make the colors more distinct for different levels.

Also more of point concerning difficulty than anything is how harshly you get bombarded with pieces whenever a new level begins. By level 12 or 13 you end up getting some 4 lines worth of pieces dumped on you in an instant, often times almost guaranteeing at least one column became iron.

JoUBG responds:

Yea I really wanted a bigger screen for larger blocks but this being flash means it has to be kinda small. I might make a smaller grid-size to allow for larger more defined blocks but I'm not sure if that will ruin the gameplay or not..

A couple of problems

Ok... whenever it goes to the next level there will be a large number of balls that will fall rapidly.. which will cause some rows to lockdown.. which is a problem because it cant be helped.. and the other is the colour issue which is hard to differentiate between them especially when it goes into the shade of gray = =

JoUBG responds:

So basically you want the game to be super easy..?

Uh...

"Please refrain from playing Chaos Chamber if you usually die from playing video games."

... If we usually died from playing video games, wouldn't we be too, ah, dead to play anymore?

Anyway, pretty good game, just... Well, I managed until level 20, and even if I had had a perfect run until then (which I didn't) I think I would've failed there because the colours are too hard to see, even if I've got pretty decent vision.
