Reviews for "The Swords"

Decide what you want.

Not going to write up a full review now, because I'm tired.
Decide what you want to make.
A beat-em-up is a game where you control a guy, going from left to right, kicking lots of bad guys. Regular bad guys go down easily, maybe in 5 hits. New types of bad guys are introduced fairly often. The good guy knows a few special attacks available from the beginning, performed by key comboes like "Down, forward, attack". If there is any sort of upgrades or "character development", they're temporary powerups or a superattack the guy learns by the end of the game. Throwing enemies, picking up items from the environment to throw them at enemies or beat enemies with is common. Bad guys' designs tend to follow a theme, be it "Thugs", "Robots", "Ninjas", "Cool things for a hero to fight" and make sense, at least in context.
This fails as a beat-em-up because it has only one basic combo, enemies taking way too long to beat and posing no challenge at all, and an awful control scheme.

A MMORPG is a game where you control a guy making his way in an imaginary land, kicking lots of bad guys. Regular bad guys take a while to take down, maybe a couple minutes. New bad guys appear rarely and are often recycled in a different colour. A lot of bad guys appearing later in the game are nearly identical in their attacks and behavior to ones encountered right in the beginning of the game. The good guy has little to no special attacks at first, but learns new one as he beats enough bad guys to earn levels. Special attacks are performing by assigning them to hotkeys (Usually number keys) and hitting said keys. Character development and items are all over the place, represented mainly by earning levels, items dropping from bad guys or some sort of shop where you buy items to use with money dropped by bad guys. There's usually a lot of variety as to what items and special attacks you can use. Special attacks usually involve "hitting an enemy from a distance", or "Hitting multiple enemies at once". Interacting with environment or doing anything but directly attacking monsters is strictly forbidden. Bad guys' designs rarely follow a theme other than "Cute things" or "Spikey, evil things with a few cute things thrown in" and often make no sense whatsoever. There's also other players involved.
This fails as an MMORPG, because it has no character development outside of getting a bigger stick and learning a whole five special attacks, and there's no other players.

To make a combination game of genre X "with elements of genre Y", you have to first build a complete, playable in fun game of genre X, than add elements of genre Y. This fails at it, too.

It's mind-numbingly boring, silly and repetitive. If kids today consider this sort of thing fun, I have no faith in this generation. Not that I had any to begin with.

Nice graphics, though.

Really, this game is anything but original

The game is a rip-off of the MMORPG Dragonica, seriously, and bad at that, the game is slow, unbalanced pricing, takes to long to kill the critters, the 2nd boss is annoying and you can barely hit the guy since it tends to go frenzy with his attacks, I didn't play past it, really, try something Original, or at least fix this one.

Really?

How's it going MapleStory?

Add a save system and get some original images.

>_>
