Reviews for "The Impassable Quiz"

Passed it

It could be longer, the music doesn't go with it. On question 13 if you get it wrong it doesn't go to the checkpoint menu.

AndrewGlisson13 responds:

I made a few more mistakes than I thought, apparently. Lol.

Bugs

11: if you click A, nothing happens, even though its (clearly) a wrong answer.
At some point after #11, your questions get screwed up. if you miss one you just go back to #11. It works but is inconsistent with #1-10 where you had the play click "Return to checkpoint"

Neat questions, though...

AndrewGlisson13 responds:

Yeah, I noticed that.

GRRRRRRRRR

I HATE LAME ASS MAZES THAT YOU CAN'T BEAT IN 20 SECONDS lmao, otherwise the game was good, loved the music btw. all the buttons workd (atleast up 2 the maze,) i did realy great up till the maze, i only had 2 restart 1 time and (that was because i thought bees had more eyes that 5) and restart from checkpoint once because i clickd the button above barber for charlie browns fathers job. but i couldn't beat your maze. great game.

AndrewGlisson13 responds:

Thanks for the review, lol.

I probably shouldn't have added that maze, but I was running out of ideas.

good quiz game

Fun. Not too long or too short. Good job at picking random, difficult facts. Thank you for adding checkpoints! Great job!

AndrewGlisson13 responds:

Thanks :D

It was good, but can be improved.

Note that I'm mainly focusing on the bad in this review, so if I seem harsh, that's why.

The font was irritating, a general rule of thumb is that gradients are amateur. A solid color font would have actually looked better.

The Checkpoint! animation should have automatically directed to the next question, instead of the player having to click the word. Also, restarting from the last checkpoint should've just gone directly to the question, which it did in some cases but not always.

Also, it was too short.

There were a few exploits as well:

In the maze, holding down the mouse button and dragging to Finish completed the maze.

A solution for this is to create a button covering the whole screen, in a layer behind the maze walls, scripted to go directly to "You Lose!" when the player clicks on it.

Throughout the whole game, you could skip to the next question by right-clicking and selecting "Forward".

A solution for this is to change the right-click menu to have no buttons. I do not recall how to do this but a quick Google will reveal the answer.

Finally, without hand-drawn buttons, preferably a white background, and a bunch of effects (but not overly flashy or annoying, and remember, no gradients), this quiz is kind of bland.

Another tip is to have the questions be more clever. For example, in The Impossible Quiz, which I'm almost positive you were inspired by (not that that's a bad thing), one of the questions is "What's under the sea?" The answer is Space, because under the letter "C" on a standard keyboard is the space bar. Sometimes tricks like that won't just frustrate the player, but will also make them actually like the game more.

I hope to see an even better version soon! :)

AndrewGlisson13 responds:

Thanks for the tips and the review.

If I ever do make a sequel to this, it will certainly be quite a while from now, but if I do make it, i'll be sure to put this review into consideration.
