Reviews for "Exmortis 3"

Dear Ben

Ben. I consider you to be quite an extrodinary animator. You story telling has been one of the many highlights which drew me to this website in the first place. The Exmortis series in particular has shown me craftsmanship in a video game's story, I thought was long dead. I had been following this series for the past half decade. I get to the final chapter in the epic trilogy that is Exmortis, and what do I find?

You have sold out.

You have forgotton the reason you began creating these master pieces. You've lost the passion. Why have you abbandonned your fans like this? I understand, of course, that you do need to make a material gain out of this venture which has taken you an amazing amount of effort, which I appauled you for, but to leave us like this is truly a terrible shame.

I'm sorry that you have made this choice, and I'm sure the full version is a great game, but I will not be purchasing anything from a person who abbanbons their values and supporters for the average amount of payment you will recieve for your hard work. I hope the game is successful, and I congratulate you on your success. I wish you all the best, and hope you realise your mistake.

Sincerely,

Your Fan, Shaughn

Cool

Look whatever you guys say, tis guy busted his as over the few years he worked on this and your givin it bad reviews, because of a price tag? The guys gotta get something out of this instead of sit reviews. But I will admit the price tag is a bt hefty. But overall well done an a great game and if this game gets finishd in the futur cause the end dosn't really look like an ending, are you going start a new brand of horrer games?

You sir, I demand more games.

Everyone's already spoken of your and the game's awesomeness. I'm here to cemet that awesome as I'm sure others will after me. Best damn work of Ben's ever. I can't wait to pay for the full thing, I'm itching to have it on my lappy.

It felt different from the other two games.

The atmosphere of the game has more of a action thriller to it other than a horror feel, the demo seems less scarier than the other two because the last two protagonists were ignorant of exmortis, while this protagonist knows what to do and has the abilty to preform powers.
This is the turning point of the Exmortis series.
It's still a fun game, a little comfusing, but I'll get the hang of it.

The epitomy of all your hard work,

and it does NOT disappoint.

I have played the first two Exmortis games at least 3 to 4 times each over the last few years, and always took the time to appreciate the wonderfully horror-filled atmosphere you created. That's always been my most favorite part. Yes, the puzzles can be deceptive and hard to figure out, and the shock value is good, but the atmosphere... few people can create one designed to induce fear and have it succeed, but you have done this, in all 3 games, like it was a born gift. These games are truly terrifying.

Getting to personal opinion, I actually have to say I preferred the first two Exmortis games to this one (I did buy the full version and played to completion, or at least one ending) this one had more of a conclusive feel to it. The protagonist knew what was going on and was more able to deal with the mental and physical problems that came up. While this is in no way bad, it just didn't have the true element of helpless fear that the first two did. The uncertainty combined with the more confined element of being trapped in a house-gone-slaughterhouse filled with the angry spirits of the dead as well as the demonic spirits of those like Vlaew, along with your amazing art and look concepts was truly a horrifyingly scary experience.

Exmortis 3, while lacking in the above stated feeling (in my opinion at least) had SO much more to offer in terms of length and gameplay than the other two, which is always a good thing. The powers, the ability to make actual choices that affected how things played out, having actual dialogue with multiple characters, it all combined to make an amazing experience; ESPECIALLY when you consider the overlying fact... this is a flash game!

There's also the story to comment on. This series has an amazing story to it, one that I have enjoyed thoroughly. The plot twists and unexpected occurances always left me second guessing what was going on, and predictions were never easy to make, if not impossible. I find probably the most enjoyable part I had in this series was reading the diary of the farm owner in Exmortis 2. 20 + pages chronicling this families life throughout the war and takeover and every part was just an amazing read. Then the corkboard with all the newspaper clippings to add to it, the level of detail just blew my mind.

Looking at the end of Exmortis 3 (no spoilers coming) makes me think a 4th installment is by no means an impossibility. Please do continue this amazing series, your talent and ideas in this field obviously grow leaps and bounds with every installment and I personally would love to see how far this can go.
