Reviews for "Sean and Justin"

Very random... Too random

Yeah, most of it was funny, and even though it came together at the end, I feel even random stuff has to have a coherent sequence of events. Animation wasn't excellent, but the graphics sure as hell were. The sound could do a little working on, and you can't go wrong with subtitles!

Random is cliche.

I can appreciate the animation, but everything else falls flat. I think what is least successful is the humor. Humor that is "random," "zany," or in your words, "doing utterly strange things for no reason," is a tired, lazy, and weak creature that feeds off of outdated memes.

In a way, it's like the work you produced isn't even yours because you took jokes from everywhere else and didn't make any of your own.

You don't have a 4.39 because what you did is quality, you have a 4.39 because Newgrounds is full of 12 year olds who think any referential humor is the most brilliant thing ever.

HappyViking responds:

I respectfully disagree. Random humor has the same strengths as every other sort of humor, the only thing that matters is the execution. I think I executed it well, and others would agree, but I think the problem is that you are in the market for comedy with a little more depth and meaning, and I'm sorry that 'S+J' can't provide that.

Now regarding the originality of my jokes, I'll admit that nearly everything 'S+J' does is a reference to some element of pop culture but jokes, however, I have not stolen. I fail to recall a movie, TV show, or internet cartoon that featured a gag about a skinny guy flexing and suddenly becoming a beef mountain. Nor a gag regarding throwing a pesky animal into the sun. The jokes are mine, just not the set-ups.

As for the score...yeah, you're damn right about that. I think it's way too high, but fortunately, it seems to have peaked at 4.39. It'll drop down to something reasonable in time.

Mastodon good!! animation average..

i didnt mind this.. props on the mastodon, drawing style and actually releasing a fairly well polished flash (which is way more than i can say for all my half finished projects, urgh) but i just wasnt feelin the crazyness ya know.. sorry man. 6!!! and perhaps some cake..

Meh, it was okay. Could use some improvement.

The animation seemed okay, if not a bit on the slow side, and the jokes/horrible parodies were paced often incorrectly. Leading to barely any humor. Some original stuff would be nice, but anyway, I think it was a good first try.

My name is Justin, and my brother's name is Seann.

Watching this was very weird for me.

OH CRAP.
