I really enjoyed this game, I cant wait for the sequel.
My eventual strategy was to just run out with a user controlled fully upgraded spearman first thing.. they are tank and do heaps of damage, they can even take down giants really quickly, i won some of the levels with one or two spearmen. :|

This game was great. I loved the different soldier types and the strategy involved in each level. However, I never did get around to using the giant. In the later rounds, the sword wielding soldiers with max damage and a speed upgrade are the key to victory (along with the ability to generate money really fast).
