I love it...
The addicting part is that i can carry my choices of upgrades from mission to mission. Too bad it was linear. I was expecting to be able to pick and choose which area I wanna conquer first to earn their specialty.
I wasn't tempted to control any single grunt in the game despite the fact I knew that the unit gets extra damage and health. The itty bitty star on the top is not dramatic enough for me. When I choose a unit to control, it would make sense to make it badass lookin for an uber hero unit... kinda like power rangers or something... Its waay too easy to just keep switching if the first one dies so there should be a price for a certain hero type with special abilities. It should get more expensive if the player is too stupid not to take care of the first second or the third after that. Heck, just allow the player to carry the hero unit mission to mission with extra gear and weapons with other rpg elements. Make several special heros randomly chosen on just one unit type. For example, Characters Ronju, Clarit and Singra all prefer the spear. Same thing with the ranged units, magic units.. all with their own hero sets. Some bright, dark or inbetween. Chain lightning, groundshaker... just friggin spade ideas off of world of warcraft or something
If you wanna get really ambitious or have something to think about for the third installment, do walls, defense towers, traps with siege weapons.
