Reviews for "TankMan WAR!"

meh

Alpha version

Looks like you ripped the artwork from a tankmen flash, and started making a def game out of it. Needs instructions, better sfx, better user interface (hard to tell what you're supposed to click on sometimes ... EG: took me half a minute to figure out to click the upper text on the upgrade screen to go to level 2...just put a word like "Go!" or something...make it obvious.)

Since the tankmen world really hasn't been fleshed out much, except for the few movies Utah's put out, you have a huge canvas to play with. We know they use projectile weapons, but don't know if they have energy weapons. It's like a mash-up of Fallout meets Mad Max. You should experiment with different concepts.

Instead of having the 3 characters seem "player controlled", you should have them be AI shooters guarding the building, and the player is the sniper off in the distance helping out. When you think of it like that, the view point the player has makes much more sense.

One thing that annoys me about games like these is it's just static defense; you're guarding one building, usually doing so in waves that last X amount of time. Instead, since tankmen are in a battle with an opposite team, you could make this a battlefield that you're trying to move your men forward on. It could have 5 or 6 different defensible positions. You act as sniper to overwatch your men moving forward, but also as a commander. You "purchase" units to send forward from your main base. They charge forward to the next defensible position, and if you don't control it they will engage it to try to take over. You snipe enemies along the way to limit the time your boys have to engage and get tied up with the enemy, so they have more health when they get to the objective. Once they take over the next position, they can take up defense there as a control point. You can purchase better units, like tanks, rocketmen, etc, to move up from main base to secure the control points you gain. As the game goes on, you'd fortify previous control points just in case the enemy pushes through.

For controls, you could have the player use the arrow keys to scroll along the battle field (maybe not even scrolling, but just tapping left/right once to "jump" to the next control point. Since player would be sniper, you could let them zoom in/out some, so they could get real close to snipe (maybe certain enemies had weak points to hit, like tank treads, head shots), then zoom out to see how the battle's going between two control points.

In this way, it would be a hybrid overwatch/defense/objective game. Let the player buy up other weapons for themselves, like rocket launcher, death ray, etc. Maybe let them act as a laser spotter to drop the occasional nuke on the enemy. You could also have the player get directly attacked by enemy snipers who take cover in control points. You could also pull back and show the player having to defend themself from their own little assault from the enemy; obviously the enemy won't just let a sniper's nest go unchecked.

There's tons of possibilities with this. It'd be a shame to just carbon-copy every def game that's already been done to death out there.

Uhh...

There may be some potential here, but work on the game play some. Some Instructions would be nice(I pressed the 'r' key to reload several times before I figured out it was the space bar) and please fix the sounds. Sometimes the sound doesn't play out all the way, and it becomes very annoying. With a little tweaking, I can see this become a very playable game, but keep working on it.

lame

u could win (if u canll it that) from lvl 1 just click get some help and add tank and add clip as many times as u want(tho tank only adds 1 i think) but there is not really....reason to gain.....coz u kinda just can...tho i will give u points on it being tankmen
