Original. I've never thought nor heard of someone making a remix of the symbolic yet usually forgotten theme that is ignored by the following credits and eventual post game play though.
Like you said it wasn't a lot to work with but you still worked with what little you had and it turned out great. A short remix but any Pokemon gamer (albeit one who completed one of the main games up to the Hall of Fame) could still recognize the tune which is important in making a remix.
I loved the way the sing itself built up from a quiet, shy little thing to a bold, strong remix. Especially at the 1:00 mark. That part. It felt like the overall climax. (Was I right?) Liked the nice fade at the end. To me, it felt like a short and quick little journey that ended as quietly as it started.
And even if a person who never played Pokemon they could still recognize that it was a Pokemon related song due to the Pikachu. Great job, 5 stars.

Thanks! I love your thought out review! I believe every song should reach a climax and then softly fade. That's the choral singer in me ^_^ As for this one, I never really intended to make one; I was just having fun with the piece. But if you felt it, than I'm happy to have made something you enjoyed.
