Reviews for "Robot Reaction"

nice!

Pros:
Great background music and sound effects!
Cute robots!
Simple scoring system

Cons:
Very fast game, so fast it takes at least 2 rounds to get to know how each robot explodes. Maybe make this into a "story mode" and make a little introductory movie of each new robot for that round?
Very difficult to time it so that every robot explodes, maybe consider coming up with a version that you can upgrade to a bigger explosion or you must explode so many robots to continue?

Overall enjoyable, fun, and addicting! Congrats in making a GREAT game in only 3 days...how many hours did you put into this?

HybridMind responds:

Thanks for your review. Yeah, I have on my possible todo list things like upgrades and the like. I was intentionally limiting my scope on this project though. Save it for the sequel right? ;) I'm glad you found it enjoyable, fun, and addicting. I spent 3 FULL days on it.. so I likely have around 40 hours in it. Thanks for asking too!

This is a good game

I find this is more of a mini-game than an actual game. I'm sure you've gotten tired of hearing this, but the game is a bit too short. Just as you're getting into it, it ends.

If you make a sequel, I have a few ideas:
1. Add some different backgrounds (i.e. lava, underwater etc.)
2. Make it more challenge-based. For example, you could have levels where you have to blow up as few robots as possible, instead, or have levels with enemies that you're not meant to destroy...if you blow them up, it's game over. You know...stuff like that.
3. Change the music or add a mute button (if there was one I didn't see it)

Good time-waster though. 4/5 8/10.

HybridMind responds:

I don't mind hearing what people think about the game even if it is a lot about the duration. It is cool. I wanted the game to be short because I designed it to be rapidly replayed. That this seems confusing or a short coming is likely a problem with the game context or design I did. I'll ponder this point as well as the others. I do like your different background idea (underwater, lava, etc) that would be a lot of fun to draw and create environment-themed robots as well.

In the top left of screen it always says 'M for Mute R for Restart' but I know I should have added a little speaker icon too, my bad. :)

Thanks again for reviewing and playing!

fun, cute, addicting...

HybridMind responds:

Thanks so much!!

cool game

Its a fun game that gives you a good challenge. i have seen this formula used before, but this game is good. it would be nice to see some more variety in the levels and gameplay. open up ways for more tactics

HybridMind responds:

I will definitely be implementing a lot more strategy and scope in the followup. I'm gathering feedback through this version so that I can make a real good sequel. Thanks so much for playing and leaving your review!

Cool Game

The game was good, although it was short it had something. The graphics were nice as well, a simple but effective, and the music fitted the robotic theme. The concept was the best part, nothing completly brand new, but it is just a fun short game. Mabye if there was a sequel you could add different modes.

HybridMind responds:

Hey, thanks a lot for playing it and leaving your thoughts. I'm a big fan of the chain reaction genre and have played many of the various ones out there. I wanted to try my own initial take on the genre. My goal was to capture the addictive quality of games like boomshine and monkey boom while providing a more polished and creative robot wrapper and more interesting exploding type mechanics. I'm going to definitely be making a sequel that will be longer and have more features and a bit more player strategy because I've learned a lot from all the feedback I've gotten from having released this game. Thanks again!
