Reviews for ""We're Starfox!""

Pretty good

The animation was pretty good, and the concept was fairly unique. The menu is a bit confusing, try putting the names of the buttons below them instead of having them pop up when you roll over them. It gets hard to tell what exactly they do. Also, the loading bar should be a different color then the bar below it, it was hard to tell if it was loading or not.

PuffballsUnited responds:

I fixed the loading bar problem, but I kinda like the menu like this. :)

Good job.

Nice, fluent animation. There are two things that bug me:
1. The quality of sound ( the voices ), its rather poor but I presume you couldn't do anything about it.
2. The preloader bar. I've got good vision but some people might not see the difference between red and slightly lighter red.

Anyway I liked the animation (however I have never played the game).

Cheers

PuffballsUnited responds:

I can't do anything about the quality of the voices for two reasons:
1) It would make the file-size too big
2) The voices already sound kinda bad in the game.

Also, I fixed the preloader bar. Never got to see it in action when I tested the movie.

WTF...

It was weird. Never watched original starfox, amnd I found it strange 3/4 of the time. Maybe If I played the original game I'd find it more funny. Perhaps sharpen the voices a little? And the preloader looks really discouraging to watch the rest. But you made up with the menu, because I was staring at it for 10 seconds thinking something's gonna happen and then I hovered over the planet and it turned out an option, lol.
Anyway, by itself, without the game, it seems like lots of inside- jokes and the crappy audio also ruined most of the fun. I'd improve on the graphics, the sound, and the jokes as well(so they would look funny even to those that don't play the game)

PuffballsUnited responds:

Yeah, you'd definitely wanna play the game before you watch this. It really will be the funniest to people who grew up with the game and know all the quotes. I don't really know what I could have done to make it more appealing to everyone.

OK, Not great.

This was not the best flash I Have seen. It was ok, not great, but ok. The menu where you click on the planets was confusing, I waited like 3 minutes for something to happen before I realized you were supposed to click on the planets. Next Time, You should write what everything does underneath, so people (like me) dont get confused. The use of quotes from the games was creative, but got annoying and hard to hear (actually vocie-acting the smae quotes would have been better). They also seemed a bit slow with the fast-paced music in the background. Some of it was funny, but it could definitely be funnier. For example, you could have brought up those little subtitle boxes with the character's heads, or better yet, make those optional! I personally didn't love the animation ar character designs, but that's just me. This was a bit long and tiresome, and I had to pee (lovely) so a pause button would Have been nice.

PuffballsUnited responds:

My programming skills aren't that great, so I don't really know how to make a pause menu. You could have quit the movie and then use the scene selection to get close to where you were. A subtitle option would have been a good idea, but I didn't feel it was necessary.

Well done.

Pretty good flash. Well animated, and you really did use those quotes well. If it was in the credits I apologize for missing it, but what is the name of the song featured in the credits?

PuffballsUnited responds:

It's called 'Corneria' and it's from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Sorry, all the songs show up at once in the credits so I can see how it'd be easy to miss.
