Reviews for "StarBox I"

Frustrating as HELL

Aiigh, it is a great game dude, but the first easy boss is frustrating. it impossible to avoid the walls and the fire and try to hit all the buttons. even when i do, i hit the wall going to the exit and die
if its that hard on easy, hard must be really impossible

AwokerR responds:

gta0004, it's not impossible, just keep trying.

Great

Nice graphics, addicting gameplay and big maniac pacman as last boss of the game. but this game is too short, music is bore after 10 minutes, getting gold is so easy. I hope that you make part two longer and harder.
(yeah, and sorry for my english).

AwokerR responds:

Ok, nice review.

Pretty Good

I enjoyed playing this quite a bit. The game was smooth and the graphics were nice. And I particularly enjoyed your level variation, what with guns and all that stuff. The movement was easy to control and not too hard to get a hold of.

I didn't quite like the blinking though everytime I collected a star. Especially when you're on a roll and you're going really fast, the blinking actually makes it harder to see where you are and easier to collide into small tiny corners in certain areas. I think that's quite an unnecessary effect. Especially since you've got a slight magnetic pull on the stars already so I don't really need an indication that I've collected one.

And also I'm a little bugged about the controls during the menus and between each level. Firstly, I think you should just let levels go continually instead of having to click each level everytime. And also, try to keep the interface in a single controller - mouse or keyboard. It's really weird having to click some stuff while others can be done with the spacebar. It makes for much more economic gameplay if everything can be done from a single unit. It's a small problem, but I found it annoying after every level where I had to click the 'skip' button and click the level I wanted. And then back onto the arrow keys for the level.

A couple of new twists on an old concept which makes it a good replay, but you could do with some minor tweaks here and there.

AwokerR responds:

Interesting what you said about the blink after catching a star, well, I promise you, when I make StarBox 2, most or all of your suggestion will be on the game, because it's not everyday when you got a nice review as yours. =D

Good, but...

I needed 10 more stars to unlock level 9 so I had to do the 2nd Gold level. I didn't even care about getting anything but the bronze and I STILL couldn't get through it. Your regular levels shouldn't require doing the bonus levels. I got so angry after dieing thirty times in a row that I almost completely gave up....Then I tried 10 more times and DID give up. If it weren't for that this would be an 8 or 9 star game, but because I couldn't even finish it I gotta give it 5. Sorry dude. Rule 1 of bonus levels is they aren't required to win....Because they are bonuses.

i dont like this game
