Reviews for "Heavy Weapons"

wow

such good graphics and amazing controls. simple and easy. the game was pretty hard and really fun! you should make a sequel!

A Great Game

It held my attention in short bursts and I eventually beat it. I have a short attention span so for me to actually want to finish a game it means some thing. However as some one already pointed out... a lot of the descriptions left a lot to be desired for the weapons... for the first 10 or so levels I never even had to purchase a new weapon and after that it was just mostly a combo of the BFG (Large Laser), that huge rolling sphere and than what ever else suited my fancy. However, 90% of the weapons were useless or there were others which were just much better. Obviously every game is going to have a throw back or two of trash can weapons, but yours had a lot. And as I said, it wasn't like I had to purchase the cheap weapons and then eventually upgrade to the better ones which would mean that those trash can weapons were needed for at least a little while before getting some thing better... I simply held off except for one or two and then bought the most expensive and worked my way back wards which took a lot of the experience of the game away from me.

But then again those trash can weapons can make for a second daring attempt at beating the game again and just using the worthless ones and see if you can beat it... =)

But my only "real" complaint would be the lack of any kind of story... I mean there really wasn't one.

I found the best weapons to use against the last boss was the stop time, the large rocket that does a large amount of damage to normal enemies and if I remember correctly the BFG.

Amazing!

This is an awesome game. Well polished and presented, with good gameplay and a good challenge. It's not the average noob game that you see around these days. One complaint that I have is that the weapons are not all useful, and switching between them can be very tedious and distracting. It would be more intuitive if there are separate fire keys for each of the three weapons or if the game auto switches weapons that are at reload. Having to switch all the time distracts from the gameplay experience.

STRATEGY GUIDE - the in-game one isn't very helpful, but this one is. =)

The two must-have weapons are:
1. Early Stage: Arc Spread (the first weapon that you should buy!)
2. Later Stage: Lightning gun - second on third row- (without doubt the most powerful weapon in the game for most levels. You should usually have this on when you purchase it)

Setups:
1. (Lightning gun, energy homer missile, big laser) - great setup because you have two weapons that don't require aiming, so you can focus on dodging. Meanwhile, you still have one aim-able weapon, the laser, in case you need to fire at a certain area. Later in the game, you might want to replace the energy homer with something more damage, such as the short shield, if there lots of enemies that like to get close up. But if the enemies are far apart, the homer gets its job done, as it has acceptable damage.
2. (Laser lock, energy homer missile, regular homer missile) - this is an interesting setup that can make the 3rd (and 2nd) boss very easy. Since all three weapons work at all range and do not need to be aimed, you can simply focus entirely on dodging the bacteria boss from a distance and let your weapons wear him down at long range.

Nice
