Reviews for "~SW~ Into the Fray"

I loved it. It sounded modern, but still kind of vintage, like 16 bit or something. plus the bass was sweet!
I agree though, about the volume of the drums. If you used a compressor on them correctly, then they shouldn't clip when you turn them up at all. My VU meter says that the track is between -12 and -6 DB, which means you have plenty of volume until you clip (at -0 DB).

But seriously, practice with compressor and look up a tutorial or two if you have to, it's a very important tool in this kind of production.

I'd also appreciate if you looked at some of my classical or rock music x)

Ps. I didn't realize this was a loop. For like 8 minutes. I think that's a good thing, rofl.

SkyeWint responds:

Hoa!

"the bass was sweet!"
That was honestly what had inspired me to make the song - the idea for that bass riff in the beginning. :P

"If you used a compressor on them correctly"
Alright, that's probably it. Of course, the other reason I didn't turn them up more was so that they wouldn't overpower the other parts of the song. Guess I should have mentioned that in my other response, huh.

"practice with compressor and look up a tutorial or two if you have to"
Will do!

Also will do! I'll try to review one of your most recent songs by the end of tonight!

...:D I'd say that it is.

Great battle theme! :D This really reminds me of the Kirby Super Star Ultra music. Nice work!

SkyeWint responds:

Haha, Kirby Super Star Ultra? I can see the resemblance, I guess... Wasn't expecting that at first, but yeah, I get what you're saying. :P

My first attempt at a battle theme kind of failed. WAY poor mixing and sections that weren't full enough - guess this one was better!

That's wild. Kind of reminds me of Jazz jack rabbit 2... that game has music similar to this.

my only comment is too make your drums louder and make sure that your melodic instruments are in the foreground... so that I wouldn't have to turn things down or up when it got too loud or too quiet.

Anyways, that's my take on it. keep it up. have a listen to my new ambient tune whenever you can. :)

SkyeWint responds:

Heya!

"that game has music similar to this."
Oh, really? I'll have to look that up at some point.

"make your drums louder and make sure that your melodic instruments are in the foreground..."
I think if I turned them up any louder, they'd clip like mad. :P I'd rather it be quiet than clipping. Not TOO quiet, of course, but still. They're audible, at the very least. Besides - dynamic range is a good thing. :P There's not THAT much of it in this song, but some.

"that's my take on it. keep it up"
And it is much appreciated. ^_^ I most certainly will.

"have a listen to my new ambient tune whenever you can. :)"
You will have a review on it in the next 24 hours.
