Reviews for "Portal Hopper"

nice first flash

this was a good game for a first timer it was good and it was fun for the timer maybe add a few more levels put a giant ape have him throw barrels at you LOL but seriously good job on your first flash keep on going

MinorPrelude responds:

Thank you very much.

Not very good..

I'm going to make a list:

Pros:
1.The main character is somewhat well drawn.
2. i like the song
Cons:
1. The background is boring.
2. You didn't animate a walking sequence.
3. You didn't even bother changing the direction of shading for when he turns.
4. You move extremely slowly
5. There is no challenge whatsoever.
6. The "portals" are just one color circles with a glow added to them.

I could go on but I'm lazy. Try again but take some time to look at detail and don't be afraid to make the game hard. I would rather play an overly hard game then an overly easy one. Also, try upping the frame rate so everything goes faster.

MinorPrelude responds:

Thank you for your criticism, I'm not being sarcastic. It really does help me figure out what I need to change.

naice;D

after u get better this game could be a serie!
but this is so cute, even a writing mistake in the instructions!XDXD

MinorPrelude responds:

...I hate typos GAH!

Well It's Not a Bad First Attempt...

I think it still needs a bit of work, but you were definitely showing potential there. The graphics were acceptable for this sort of game, and pretty good for a first attempt I would think. Later on you'll want to work to improve them, but that should be at the bottom of the priority list. You might want to check with other people, but for me, the far right side of the screen was completely black, preventing me from seeing where the final platform of the first level presumably was, and once I jumped over there, my character disappeared and would no longer respond to any button input. If this was an intended obstacle, fine, but you should have something that lets you know that you "died" or "game overed" and lets you restart either that particular level, or the entire game. If you have it so that people just restart that level, then you should definitely give them a limit on how many times they can do that before they have to start over from the beginning. And yes, I did retry it a few times, including attempts at double jumping to the platform directly above, right before the screen is black. That attempt led me to conclude that there was no "double jump". Anyway, the music was fun, so I don't think you have to do anything further with that, unless that was the only music, in which case, I'd suggest considering changing up the music if not every level, then every few levels or so.
I hope you found this review helpful.

MinorPrelude responds:

On my monitor I can see all the platforms fine...But I'm going to end up changing the color scheme up so that shouldn't be a problem in the future.

...

the player is too slow
there aren't enough levels
for the rest great funny game

MinorPrelude responds:

He seemed slow to me too, but that'll be easily fixed in the future.
