I think purpose trumps education and cultivation. People are educated because they strive for more, to seek and learn, and find purpose. Unfortunately, some people fail to do so, and cling on to the purpose of other individuals. Many times, it is a collective weaker sub culture that does this. However, conformity is not the only form, in fact id say conformity is a template. Every group on society wishes to conform to one group or another they most identify with, Vespar is right in that people can be mislead, or hopelessly taken by someone with great Charisma, if those people (which i'm learning is a majority of people), without even questioning why. However, not all people are weak, even if the world did conform, there would always be resistance. Look through history, every time a tyrant tried to build an empire, they met resistance. Some people cannot conform, because it conflicts with their or their groups purpose. Some of those resolves are worth dying for, which is demonstrated all throughout human history.
Aside from that, good flash, not a lot going on, with the flash, (i know you are going for conformity but even if your characters moved a little bit may have made it a tad more interesting) but the message, and how you put it together, and presented it was really good.
