Here's the good ole facts
I realize that this was a test run to decide if your animating skillz were good enough for you and your fan base to make the conversion from sprites to a whole new level of animation. I believe that almost all of the greatest animators started out with a craptastic animation(whether it was submitted or not). If you truely want to make your own animations- go for it! Here's the deal. You'll be criticized, blammed, and most of your animations will look rough in the beginning. But in due time with enough patience and dedication your videos will look sharp and you may even see a collection made just for you. Exciting, isn't it?
Sprites are fun of course, but I'm afraid it is incredibly difficult to not sound like a sterotipical copycat(Sonic and Mario team up to fight Bowser and Eggman, also at some point in every episode Luigi is a Loser/Fool). I'm not talking about your sprite videos when I say this(due to the fact that I haven't seen them)- I am talking about the difficulties of creating something original. But if Sprites are something you have a knack for and really enjoy doing there's no reason to give it up. Even if you move on to your own flash videos, you can always submit a Sprite animation every now and again.
