Reviews for "Gray"

Good

Brilliant, but too simple.

Try making better graphics and more than just that lvl.
Good sounds and i'm giving it a 9 because i really liked.
5/5

Next-Gen gaming.

In the past few years we gamers have been getting a few indie games, mostly flash of Java based, which really prove to the world how powerful the video games can be as an art medium.
I do believe "Gray" can definitely be put into that rare category of an artsy video game. Which I simply love!!
As a long time gamer I, of course, am quite convinced of video games being an artistic medium. Sadly - a lot (if not most) of people aren't convinced yet.
I believe that these kinds of games are the ones which will help the medium become recognized world-wide as a full blown ARTFORM.
Loved the game and the message, though I do agree with 'Keslen' who wrote the review below me that with some extra fore-planning gameplay could have become so much more, as the concept simply rocked my world.
Thanks very much for the game and hope to see more very soon!

that is a really great game

the only thing i would suggest if you make a second one, make it a world or like an entire city not just a street

Interesting

The idea is interesting, the use of b/w is great.... unfortunately certain times is hard to see your character!

Lots of potential, not quite enough realization.

This game was kinda fun. The moralistic sub-tones were really nifty and (if I understood the ending correctly) it's a very poignant message that those who are able to see both sides have zero impact. I applaud the brilliant utilization and delivery of this message.

Getting into game play: this game started off really well with a perfect learning curve. The tutorial messages were well placed, well written and the timing was perfect. However, it went downhill from there.

I got the point of seeing both sides as soon as my colour changed once. From there, nothing really changed until the ending and that's too long a time to go in a game without any change (no matter what message you're trying to deliver). I'd recommend eliminating four colour changes before you go to gray (so you are white once, then black once and then gray for the rest of the game).

Once you get to gray, the fact that you have zero effect (at least at first) seems slightly misplaced to me. I would have liked to see a few extra gray levels, the first where you turn whites black, the second where it's vice versa, then a third where you do both at the same time (note how the middle ground attempting to sway extremists into his view just winds up sending them to the other extreme). Then finally the last level where you, as a gray, have no effect (conveniently, if both these changes were implemented, the number of levels in the game would remain pretty similar :P).

In conclusion: this game is somewhat enjoyable, but it is more about the message delivered than game play for this one and that message is delivered well. However, it is my opinion that the message could be increased substantially while at the same time offering slight improvements to the game play.
