Reviews for "Down the Well"

Alright, but needs some polish.

I liked the style, and the puzzles we're alright, but the controls needed a bit of tightening. The puzzles we're a made a lot harder by the game ignoring keystrokes when another button was held.

horrible

May be the worst game I have ever played, a frustrating, incoherant, pixalated and above all boring drag through an uninspiring dimension deviod of emotion and excitement but apparently rife with infuriation and a sense of unfulfillment. I believe this is meant to be one of those games intended to make you "think" similar to the works of Bertolt Brecht to force you into being fully aware that you are not fully involved and view this from a onlooker's perspective, but the game is so damn horrible I found myself not giving a damn about that monstrosity pixal world, fortunatly the game was short enough for me to drag myself past its citizens who were about as interesting as the abysmal backgrounds to find nothing other then a short message asking me to "question my own exsistence" this pisses me off to no end, if your going to to do this kind of thing at least try to add some kind of......ANYTHING to contrast this against otherwise the entire game is nothing other then an unrewarding chore.

Fun. Artsy. Stylish.

Well I enjoyed the game up until level nine. Or the level that is labeled nine. You know what I mean. I used the spring to reach the three disappearing platforms with fruit on them and missed a jump. I fell and hit either the side or the corner of the box on the ground below and ended up lodged in it. Probably should have included a restart button. I usually like to play a bit more before putting in my review, but after five minutes of trying to break free of my boxy prison I just didn't have it in me to restart and do it again. Also upon entering and exiting houses the pickups respawn. Kinda breaks the scoring system. And I'm not sure, but I think it might have worked with keys as well. I wasn't really paying attention at the time, but I remember going through a lockbox later on without having to pickup the nearby key. I like that you didn't put in limited lives. I don't think anybody would have finished it. Also I didn't get far enough in the game to find out if this was done intentionally, but if you time it right you can jump off of boxes that are covered with spikes. You probably meant for that to be doable, but hey what do I know? I did enjoy this games style and atmosphere up until I got stuck. I might come back and finish this game some other day, but in all likelihood I'll just wander off and get ADD. Ya know, oh well.
