Hmm...
Excellent song - I really enjoyed the unexpected but welcome style changes, and the superb drum sequencing and synthwork.
But... to tell you the truth, I prefer KFNX's version of the song over this one. His production was, overall, more polished - not as muddy and more cohesive-sounding as a whole.
You also changed a few things that shouldn't have been, in my opinion. Strings sound really weird here, though it seems to be the same sample (my guess is phaser + EQ? probably wrong), and they seem to be louder and muddier compared to the ones in KFNX's.
The flute and bassline here couldn't be heard clearly over the strings, and in the NG Edit, you did away with the flute entirely! It was one of my favorite sections of the song, and in KFNX's version, it was really well done. :[
Good work on the intro, though. I like it a lot and it's much better than KFNX's, which didn't have much of an intro at all. The BPM also feels more appropriate; KFNX's was a bit fast.
For all my nitpicking though, this really is a great song that blows most other songs on NG out of the water. It's just that I feel that there are a few places where it could be improved. Hope you don't take my comments too personally.
And on a side note, I don't know how you fool so many people with your "neighbor who lives five minutes away" explanation. ;) ;)
