Yes, the shading is purposeful, and very effective, but higher contrast than you used would bring out the details without losing the effect. It looks way too good to be as muddy as it is. Speaking of which...
I think the simplicity of the animation really allowed for your artwork to shine. the images are starkly evocative, and very powerful. I think overall a wider presentation, at higher resolution, would make it both more accessible and easier to see (the less of the rest of my screen I can see, the better I can see what you're doing here).
Fantastic freshman effort. I'm looking forward to more from you.

Well then...

Strange fruit is a beautiful song, but it kind of relies on shock and surprise, and your showing the lyrics ruined it. I literally covered them up with my hand on the second viewing. I suggest removing the lyrics, or at least only showing the part being sung, as Nina sings it.

yeh this song was adapted from a poem called "strange fruit" which was written back before the 1930's. I havent seen anything like this since I re-did my english exams and we had to study the poem. I think this is one of the most hard hitting pieces of litrature around and not many people are aware of the true meaning and depth of this poem. Thanx for sending this message back out, cause I think peeps forgot what this is all about.
