Interesting Concept - Tremendous Potential

Great job, AF. Reminds me the video-gun games they used to have back in some of the old arcades where they would stand you in front of a rear projection screen and play laserdisc clips of cowboys shooting at you.

Especially innovative boss fight - quite impressive.

Possible future directions (I'm not sure if it's possible in the medium you're working in):

1. A branching tree structure where the player makes decisions about which way to go by clicking arrows on the screen. A lot more work on your end, but it jacks replayability up. (What if I went left at the first crosswalk? What if I decided not to go up the stairs? Etc.)

2. Enemies that are responsive to where they are hit. A different animation if the 'killing click' is on the head versus the arm, hand, torso, or a leg. You could put as much or as little work into this as you want.

3. As someone else has mentioned, ammunition bars, reload animatons, and possibly different weapons and/or powerups. (Body armor seems as though it would be easy to do.)

I'll also agree with the sentiment about dropping the health down lower on the baddies.

Overall, great job. I think you could potentially resurrect an old genre and take it in a whole new direction if you put enough effort into it.

Thanks for the great review! Most of your suggestions are excellent and may be incorporated if I make a sequel. The only problem is suggestion #2 would be very hard to implement without the person 'jumping' to the animation.

And I was gonna do body armor lol, but it seemed to have gotten thrown out somewhere along the way.

Other than that thanks!

Hey

Pretty nice thus far! One thing that I spotted though is that when you die, there's nothing so you can see to hit replay. Other than that, it was nice!

ApothicFlash responds:

Yep now that's fixed!

Wow...I'm kind of torn on this one...

Let's start with the good. The environment was very well picked, and you and your friends made very good use of the environment. You guys also did a good job acting--I especially like the death movements performed by the guys when they die. The graphics were great, with very little pixelation. And I love how you converted the video clips into a game. This is like one of those FMV games on the Sega CD, only nowhere near as bad or embarrassing.

As for the bad: well, the game is just too simple. I could predict where all of the bad guys where going to jump out of. There are also some gameplay issues--the enemies take too many hits to die, so you're guaranteed to take a certain amount of damage while shooting the guy five times. In the future, you might want to make it so that headshots do more damage and make it take less hits in general to kill. Lastly, the music was kind of bland--it's the title music from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Not a bad choice, but you might want something a bit more action-packed.

In conclusion, I liked this game. I liked the premise, the acting, and the live-action video. The gameplay, however, I found to be stale. If you made another one of these, only longer, more surprising, and with better music, I would easily have given it an 8 or a 9. I hope this review was helpful.

The review was very helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do it!

a good game from the materials in your control

good kinda amateurish though maybe if try to make some new vids it would be better but it ha great potential maybe go to a skate park or when camping go to woods that would be cool my concerns are length and variation maybe different guns

Awesome

The real-people gameplay is a idea I've always liked, but yes keep tuning it. It's a really fantastic idea, and I look forward to more from you in the future.

ApothicFlash responds:

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words
