Reviews for "OT01: Out There"

Extremely cool!

I really like this animation. The 8-bit effect really makes it stand out, but the fact that you successfully conveyed perspective and facial expressions while limited to such basic tactics was great. I love it shows how the Red guy's face changes so smoothly, and how it zooms out to show the rocket at the end.

Cool story, smooth animation, and fitting music. Great job!

Gerkinman responds:

Doing alot of those scaling and perspective shots is a nightmare.

Nice..

I like retro.

very cool!

Nice shot composition. I think that maybe the changing of the pixel sizes was a bit confusing for some. I know my eyes had to adjust a little from shot to shot, the smaller the pixels the better looking the shot, IMHO. All in all, very cool animation and very fitting music. I look forward to more!

8 bits of awesome!

The story was a little difficult to follow. May be we need to see more of it to understand what's going on, I dunno.

I don't agree with the criticism of some reviewers about the graphics not being true 8/16-bit or whatever. There's no need to slavishly recreate the graphics on your favorite old 8-bit console. That's just a stupid thing to say. Where does the author say that he's trying to perfectly recreate C64 graphics or something? On what basis do you hold him to this arbitrary standard? The pixel animation creates a certain feel that, when combined with the rocking 8-bit track, takes me way back to the 80s. The graphics and animation absolutely rock! Do I care that it's not technically accurate? No. And the author likely knows that it's not technically accurate. So shut your cake hole! Why would you sacrifice the awesome atmosphere the author has created just for technical accuracy? Comments like that just make no sense. Don't impose your own arbitrary standards on someone else's work. Review the animation for what it is.

Simply Perfect

8-Bit Music and art FTW! The music was catchy and the art gave off a 3D impression with the shading. Great work! But I couldn't figure out the plot :3
