Reviews for "Mushroom Tower Defense"

Awesome game.

finally decided to post after so long...

Contrary to Pototoy's post,

Teleport + confuse + slow can be useful when placed strategically amongst a barrage of carefuly placed Money Steal/Wealth. A wall of level 5 teleports, surrounded by a handful of confuses on either side, can easily stall hard-to-kill enemies, while having a splash slow before every group of towers can help increase your chances. Without focusing TOO much on these status inducing towers, by the time you've actually built a nice confuse/teleport barrier, your money steal/wealth towers + cash over time and increase wave length should have generated enough money for you to cover your map in whatever you choose. Personally, I prefer more Money Steal/Wealth. :P
If you choose to make a variety of towers just to be safe elementally, be sure to equip your accessories accordingly. They make ALL the difference.
(ie. Taurus on Big Splash or Burning Heart/Angel Wing on Sniper or Lightning Emblem on any Fire based tower...)

IMHO, Pure towers are useful, but early on in the game can sometimes cost too much to be effective. They make for good damage later on, but can be quite costly if you plan to go pure really early on. Use the easier waves to make -extra- money, so that you can have more towers to compliment your defenses later on. Start with a few "higher leveled" money makers to ensure that you don't spread yourself to thin with a cluster of useless towers.

Final tip: Having money steal/wealth clusters near the beginning can be helpful both at the beginning and later in the game. Not only will you be making quick cash early on, but you'll also be able to make bonus cash against any enemies that you can teleport back to start....

PS. For those new to tower defense games, as mentioned before, be sure to place your towers in positions where they can reach more than one pathway.

That, Was, AWSOME!

Why not?

So close to Perfection

This game is downright awesome. It's difficult without making you want to destroy your computer, it's visually pleasing, and it's a perfect time sink. My only complaints are the music gets annoying after a while (can be turned off) and a few more variations in the enemy types would be great. other than that, this is good stuff. Possibly the best of this Genre that I have ever played

Some tips and criticism for this AWESOME GAME

Okay, for those of you who feel like shoving a live granade in your CPU or feel like throwing your computer out the window coz you can't get past lvl 1, here's a few tips that I GUARANTEE will get you through that first level and even help you on the later ones (if done right of course):

1. Find places where you can place shrooms in such a way that they will be able to hit your enemy on two separate passes, such as a narrow "wall" between two enemy pathways. This tactic enabled me to get past level 1 using only 5 mushrooms and although I haven't tried it, I'm pretty sure you could pass level 1 using only four(three?).

2. DO NOT GO CRAZY WITH THOSE SPECIAL EFFECTS!!! I was actually able to go from levels 1-9 using only pure level 6 shrooms... EASILY. Provided you place shrooms in the right spots(read my tip#1). From my experience, I find that level 6 pure shrooms are much more powerful than a level 5 hybrid with a special ability, although those hybrid shrooms ARE very useful if they're strategically placed.

3.Remember to take note of the INCOMING enemy's weakness. Try to level your pure elemental shrooms according to the weakness of the incoming strike. This will make your defense much more formidable and could also allow you more time to prepare for the next attack. If you've missed a chance to do so, I advise that you just save your money and use it to level your next elemental shroom THAT IS THE WEAKNESS OF THE NEXT ATTACK. Trying to level a shroom during an attack might not be a good choice since you might not realize the full attack potential of your shrooms(leveling takes some time).

4.Try to place shrooms in places where they are in good range of an enemy pathway so they can fire more shots. Trying to force the issure by placing a shroom in a WIDE "wall" between two enemy pathways could actually be detrimental because your shroom will fire less shots thus causing less damage to enemies. If you accidentally(or not) put a shroom in this position, try offsetting its disposition by giving it an angel wing accessory if you have one.

5. Note that most, if not, all shrooms are invulnerable to certain special abilites. Some are even immune to more than one. So if you want to use those special ability shrooms, it might be wise to have some variety. For example, some enemies are immune to instant death but not to bomb planting shrooms which basically do the same thing so just make both. Having too many shrooms with the same ability can produce very adverse effects since (like I said before) some enemies are immune to certain special abilities.

6. On the higher levels, it might be very convenient to have a slow or splash slow shroom placed A SHORT DISTANCE before a line/cluster of your high-damage attack shrooms. This will allow your shrooms to fire more shots at them and thus increasing your damage output by a substantial amount. Note that there are some enemies that are immune to the slow status.

7. Here are some special abilities that I don't find very useful, and would like for the developer of this game to improve upon:

-poison/splash poison (damage is too insignificant)
-big splash (I know it would make the game too easy if did a lot of damage, but i really think it needs to do a bit more...)
-money steal(a higher steal OR chance percentage perhaps?)
-triple damage(increase the chance percentage juuuuust a bit)

Some input for the developer:

-I think it would be pretty cool if the special ability shrooms looked different from their pure counterparts.
-Seeing more special effects on the enemy would be nice. For example, if an enemy gets poisoned, it flashes purple, or some other color.
-The music could use some... upgrading, although I find the current background music very amusing.
-I didn't see a display that stated the number of lives I had left during the game. If there is one, could you please make it more visible?
-I know it probably doesn't matter, but the pearl looks like a sapphire or some other kind of gemstone.

So there you have it. Hope this helps! ^_^

2 things.

awesome and should be on xbox live. would be cool for multiplayer if u decide to put it on that platform
