Reviews for "Apocalypse: The Game"

you restored my faith in newgrounds

anyone whos been watching the frontpage can see that its not what it used to be game-wise, i hope i see this on the frontpage soon because it really belongs up there. this is the most entertaining flash game ive played in a long time

My whole reveiw:

Graphics: 7/10
The graphics are relatively good, and very smooth. A few problems though:
-The Shadow of the player is lighter, yes lighter, than those of the enemies/survivors.
-There is a shadow at night.
-The enemy's shadows do not move concurrent with the sun/moon
Pro's:
-Then player gains wings or horns depending on their affinity, the background seems time-consuming, and looked great.
-The map is amazingly accurate.

Gameplay: 9/10
It's a relatively simple game, but it gets a little difficult as the stages progress. For example, some of the enemies cannot be killed via single fire, and the strongest basic attack (Bolt) takes two/three seconds to reload. The slowest enemy moves from bottom to top in about 1.5 seconds. Personally, I don't get the reason for the whole "affinity" thing. But I like the fact that you get wings/horns depending on the affinity. Also, the hints at the top right in the map are a nice touch.

Storyline: 5/10
No storyline what-so-ever, besides the whole "save or kill survivors, kill those that attack you" thing. I gave it a five because the affinity and the difficulty level thing hints at a larger theme to the game. It sorta forces you, one way or another, to follow the difficulty levels and choose Good, Bad, or Neutral.

Character Development: 7/10
Not perfect, but good. The only problems I have are the Upgrades. They only raise the attack about 0.01 and the cooldown not much every level. The AP (Ability Points I'm assuming) is an amazing feature, and the fact that you get +1 for each enemy killed, +5 for survivors saved and +2 for killing survivors is nice.

Replay Value: None
This is one of those games that you can never finish it in a decent time, which is a good thing. I think that it's funny how you can only play one file per computer. The gaming is fine enough that you don't need to replay, just build on what you have.

Overall: 8/10 4/5
Amazing game, though it could use some work. I like the fact that it only uses 2.1 MB. I suggest for future games like this, you could add a movement feature to the battles, mostly only left/right, to help defend from the enemies. Also, you could add a little more of a storyline to it, like how those things (Zombies/creatures) came to be, who your character is, why he's doing this, what happens in between, etc.
Otherwise, an overall good game!

needs work...

it takes way to long to get AP to get goods abilities and the next easiest place is way too hard then

Best

game ever!
I was playing it all night...
