Reviews for "Sanctuary"

Such a beautiful piece of music to tell such a sweet sad but true tale... Your story makes me think of the beginning intro of a video game where this girl is some key player in it. It makes me feel like there is more. Now... to the music... This piece is so quiet and Melancholy it lulls the listener into a dream world. It wants to pull out all those troubles that we as humans tend to hold on to and can't let go.

Anyways this song has struck my heart, as most Songs that fit this quiet and Melancholy catagory do. What more could I say? This song I will be sure to add to my favorites and Now you got a new listener. I am going to see what else it is you have for me hear.

BlazingDragon responds:

I didn't write the story of the little girl until last night, long after I composed this piece. When creating the music I felt a strong sense of melancholy and naturally channeled that into music. This brings to point two things that I have found:

1) Listeners can often tell when a composer felt emotion as he composed. The music resonates in an organic way that is indescribable.
2) Listeners usually like to have a story to associate with music. It gives them a tangible mental picture to help interpret the emotions of a piece. It seems like most of my popular pieces have stories to go along with them, even if I wrote the story after the fact.

Your comment about the video game intro actually reminded me of the original Final Fantasy Tactics. If memory serves, it opens with a girl praying in a church during war times. Slightly ironic, heh. :)

Thank you very much for your review. :)

Really sweet sound. Mad respect for being one of the few on NG to make an actual classical loop. Sometimes all the fast paced electro songs on NG can get old really fast.

BlazingDragon responds:

Some of the electronic songs are really amazing, but it does seem like there is a lot of trash out there as well. I try to be refreshing and add something a little out of step when I can. Thanks. :)

This really is a beautiful piece, and the imagery you present with and with out your story are warm and safe. Which considering the name of the song should be the goal. You are a truly amazing Artist.

BlazingDragon responds:

Thanks Zera, much appreciated. :)

Seriously gorgeous, one of my favourite works of yours! Out of curiousity, what soundfonts did you use for the instrumentation? All the best!

BlazingDragon responds:

I believe I used EWQL for this. Thanks Jordi! :)

So... I was looking for an alarm ringtone that would wake me up but not in an "alarming" way. Like, it'd bring me to consciousness gently, and would not require my immediate action to turn it off.

And... this just fits the bill perfectly. Sometimes I'd actually just lie on my bed and not get up until the song is finished. I can't think of another song that could have this effect.

Well, you probably have bigger ambitions when crafting this... and I hope you aren't upset that I'm using your music for such mundane purposes :)

BlazingDragon responds:

Actually, I had no ambitions at all when making this piece! I felt inclined to compose and followed that urge. There were no goals, really...just following a feeling, trying to express it...

It's relieving to do that once in a while. Just compose for the sheer joy of it. I need to do more of that. :)
