This was a very good house track, first of all...

I love the overall chill feel to the song, the chords really fit into the atmosphere, for that big downtown-core city feel. Makes me feel like I'm driving downtown Toronto (where I live) at night, with brilliant lights.

I also really liked the scratch at 2:02. It's really well planned out, and I really liked how you managed to control those scratches rhythmically without messing up the beat. It was also a smooth transition to the middle section of the piece.

What I didn't really like was when the lead reaches a very high pitch at 2:34. It kind of hurt my ears :(

Overall, 5/5 10/10 97%. Awesome! -3% for high pitched lead, but still is a very good house piece.

Yay Toronto! Gotta love this place. :) The array of cultures & sounds available here is very inspiring.

No control on my part for the scratching, it's a handy Combinator patch in Reason that happened to fit the bill for what I wanted. :) I figured with such a transition of styles it needed something more abrupt so I'm happy to see you think it worked out.

Agreed, everyone is telling me this, I've since re-uploaded with the chords/lead split into seperate channels for eq'ing of the highs on the lead. I hope it's corrected it but please let me know if not. :)

Thanks for the great review, fellow T-dotter!

I've never been able to describe a house song as "groovy" until today. Trust me, it's a good thing (:

durn responds:

Dude, there's so much groovin' house out there, just look for some old 90s stuff and you'll find it. :) Thanks for diggin' -my- groove though! :D

Hey, solid groove. :D When you say it was recorded live, you mean with a DJ setup, right? What exactly were you using? Anyway, this song is awesome, you've gotten loads better from your stuff I can remember from back in 2011. Great work.

durn responds:

Ah, no, sorry, I guess I worded that improperly, meant that it's just recorded straight-up without quantization. :) Thanks for the review, Robin, and thanks for noticing the improvements! :D

You're such a unique artist here on Newgrounds! :D
I love your great beats in your music, it just sounds great! Keep up the great work!
You definitely bring lots of funk in this song, and i'm liking it!

durn responds:

Why thank you, MrKittie! :) The soul train is never-ending! :D

Holy shit this is GREAT. Love the vibe present here, and the lack of quantization definitely helped the groove. Also, that simple, syncopated bass really keeps it flowing at a chilled pace throughout. Nice instruments, great chord progressions, and overall very well mixed. One of my most pleasurable head-bobbing experiences ever, keep it up dood!

durn responds:

Haha, thanks man. I'm very appreciative of the jamming I get to do with friends, as I find it helps build groove & rhythm more than playing solo. Glad to see you noticed the extra work I put into mastering on this one. :)
