Reviews for "King of Air Guitar"

Has its ups and downs.

There is one thing that makes this game stand out in my mind from many of the other rhythm based games out there, and that is the fact that the notes match the timing of the song. This is my biggest problem with flash rhythm games and your game did a great job of keeping the harmony between the music and the notes, so good on you for that. The only real complaint that i have about the game is how the guitarist moves about and other cases where the notes shake or shift around, such as when you're on godzilla. It's kind of distracting and takes away from the gameplay a little. Other than that the game was alright and a fun way to kill some time. Keep up the good work.

ChrisKempt responds:

Hi Odin, thanks, yes, the beatmatching of the notes was really tricky and frankly I think we could even improve it from where it is now.

Completely hear what you're saying about it the fretboard moving but isn't it worth it when godzilla bursts out of the stage!

Thanks for your review.

superb

This is easily the equivalent of GH or RB, but in flash. It was fun to play and relatively easy. Good job.

ChrisKempt responds:

Wow thanks!

Not very good, not very good at all...

I love flash music games. I don't love this one, though. It is great that you can choose your charecter, and it has an okay list of songs for a flash game, the graphics look very fine. Now, that we get to the gameplay, something seems to be wrong. The songs are very difficult to play, I don't like the way the notes go towards the rocker. I hate it when he moves around. Nah, I will stick to guitar manic.

Graphics - 7/10 Gameplay - 4.5/10

Overall, form the stupid flash critic you recieve 5/10. Do better!

ChrisKempt responds:

I'm sorry the gameplay wasn't to your liking, as I've said below, our key focus with this game was trying to make the game playable but enable the player to watch the animations at the same time, something that in my opinion even guitar hero completely fails to do, it might as well not have the guitarist in the background.

So... i do appreciate your comments and thanks for taking the time to review the game but with regard to doing better, we're always going to try to be better! But for the rtime being I'm reasonably happy that this has achieved what we set out to do with this.

Decent.

The graphics were nice, I'll give it that. And yes, it had some good music. All in all, it was a decent game.

But:
-The difficulty was very low, and the hardest song was still pretty easy.
-The songs were really long
-It was annoying how the player moved back and forth, but then again, I guess you needed it to be a bit more challenging
-Every single part of the game was some sort of ad for the Azor.

And that's the part that most bugged me. I understand you can make money off of a good game, and advertising helps, but I don't see the need to plaster a logo over every single part of the game. It seems more like you made a game FOR the Azor company, rather than just having ads for it. When I would finish a song, I wouldn't get, "Here's what you did, oh, and here's an ad for Azor off in the lower right corner." It was more along the lines of, "Shave better with Azor, oh, and here's your score, which is less important in a game."

To put it simply, or in tl;dr, the amount of ads in this game is going to make me LESS likely to try one of those razors.

ChrisKempt responds:

Hi There, thanks for your review.

Getting the balance right between advertising and game is really hard, rest assured we do always fight for not overwhelming the user but ultimately the people that pay the bills have the last word. Having said that in my opinion the andvertising is relatively polite and non-disruptive in this game...

Anyway, thanks for tyour thoughts.

Very nice

I really liked this game. You really managed to capture some of the guitar hero excitement in a flash game. Very well done. I have one minor complaint though. I don't know if it was just me or what, but it seemed like whenever their were two notes hitting at the same time, I never once was able to get register them as a hit. I wouldn't get the red x that marked a miss but my percentage would keep going down. Not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong or what. Anyway, great game!

ChrisKempt responds:

Hmmm, it could be a problem with your keyboard... whilst we were testing it we found that some keyboards respond to presses on both keys wierdly resulting in a slight delay. Try hitting a touch earlier and see if that helps?
