This reminds me strongly of the ARMA 2 OST's track "Debriefing" which was used as outro music if Razor team ultimately failed their mission.
Amazing, simply put. It evokes the image of some kind of subtle "crossed the Rubicon" or "it all just hit the fan bad" moment. Perhaps someone who no longer has anything left to lose, preparing for a final sacrifice. Perhaps somebody who has lost someone and, remembering the joy they used to bring them, has taken up a solemn quest to bring peace to himself by setting out to destroy his enemy or enemies. Perhaps someone is knowingly walking to their doom, taking the fall for another. Perhaps he has left everything and everyone behind, leaving a note on the counter. Perhaps he is a repentent convict marching to the chopping block to atone for his deeds done so long ago in the dark. Perhaps two lovers, forbidden to be and chased by a hundred of the Emperor's men, choose to plunge into the mighty waterfall in each other's arms rather than face the living death of impassible separation.
I ordinarily don't like sad-sounding tracks, but this really struck a chord, no pun intended. The rythm and notes of the piano, the cadence of the strings, the timing on the drums, all of it is astounding. The fact that it isn't bright is what makes it so interesting to me. Keep up this work, I would have you write music for the chapters of my life.
