This song right here.. oh mah goodness.

This is incredible. It's got that mild 8-bit sound, a crisp snare, punchy kick.. and this low ass bass that you just bob your head to. This song is pure gold.

However I'm not all shits and giggles here. I feel that the song was slightly repetitive. I would have liked to see more drum rolls and fills, not just stutter steps and cuts. More pitch changes and maybe even a vocal sample saying "These motherfuckers can't even catch this! I'm fire, they smolder like burnt matches!"

You know, just, something; ANYTHING to make the song change it up a bit. Even a change in swing tempo as xKore did in his song 'Magnum'. I guess what I'm asking for is a tad more technicality in your songs. Something that makes me go "Holy shit, I wanna skip back and listen to that bit again!" when I listen to it.

But at any rate, this song is definitely some good shit. Keep it up my man!

Hey dude! Thanks a lot, I appreciate the in-depth review. I've suddenly been getting a bit more of those lately and it's awesome.

I know exactly what you mean too. I definitely feel the same way about the song. This one had a very different format than what I'm used to and I was relying on one bassline to do most of the work. Which has been done before, and well, I just haven't really gotten the hang of it, unfortunately :/

In fact, I had this one on the back-burner or a while. Because for the longest time I didn't know what the hell to do with it after the drop. Still, more of what you had suggested could've definitely helped this one out. Thanks!

And thanks for the review overall, man. I'm glad you liked it for the most part, and now, I know what to do the next time I get stuck on a song like this ;)

Wicked tune! So far a top tune in the portal 4 me!

I only just joined newgrounds, but I have been producing dubstep for a year now. This is just a great track all around! Its very simple, yet it brings its point forward.
Now I will rarely give a 10/10 rating to anyone. That would mean its "perfect".
Will take a lot for someones work to be perfect in my ears!
I loved the bass in this tune man. Its like modern style dubstep, but with a dark feel. Smolder is a great name for it man!
Keep up the great work!
Btw, great drums!

TheBiocide responds:

Sweet comment, man! I really appreciate the genuine feedback :)

I also understand the whole "10" thing, so a "9" is still just about as awesome. I'm glad you liked the drums and thought the name was fitting! Its really cool that you think this song's got a "dark feel" to it as well - I can dig that.

Hope to get more reviews from you, my friend! I mean that whole-heartedly :)

Me likes!

I really like it, I just know you've put alot of work into this! Great job! <3

TheBiocide responds:

Thank you very much! :) I did put a lot into this, and I'm glad it shows!

hmm

Somehow this track really reminds me of Hip-Hop. Or am I just bad at distinguishing genres?
I like the "foundation" of this track, especially the bass.
However I feel that there's some potential you left out in this one, compared to your other tracks. (And you probably know by now that prefer varied tracks, even though that's difficult to put into effect in this genre.)
To me this is one of few tracks you made that doesn't come to the fore and is fit more to be in the background. (not in a negative way)
But it's up to you to decide if you want the track to stand out more or not :)

TheBiocide responds:

Well said, my friend, well said. Sometimes, I just get a subconscious feeling about a song before I upload it and someone describes it perfectly in a review. And I'm just like "Dammit, I felt the same way the whole time and didn't even realize it..." If that makes sense...

But yes, I see where you're coming from and I'll definitely keep in mind changing this one around a bit. Thanks for the review, man!
