Reviews for "The Grayscale Spirit"

some of it was cool

the oppening sequence with the words took way too long you should shorten that up....but some interesting stuff from that kitsune

MarcK responds:

kthx

Oh well

I'm actually a bit ashamed of my part. Didn't come out very well at all, I wish i'd done more. Good collab overall, but i feel you could've cut some parts. At times it felt like it was dragging on.

MarcK responds:

Me too. I'm starting to hate this project...

My part was crap.................

Lacked a climax.............
but still enjoyable, just a slow pace.

Ok then, I'll vote low because...

This is once again another collab where semi-talented folks are just getting together to mash-up their work into one, longer piece to try to inflate their overall score. By themselves, these pieces would not be all that interesting. The art was mediocre, the use of gray-scale, while an interesting idea as a constraint, wasn't used in any astounding way. The animation was good and smooth, but that's about it. If posted individually, these flashes would be scored in the 5-6 star range (some might even get blammed). But, since everyone automatically bumps collabs up +3 stars, you're getting an over-inflated score for what your work is actually worth. However, the work shows promise and creativity. Instead of collabing on your own, separate things, then mashing them together as a series of shorts, why not collab to make one, full flash movie, each person doing a scene of the movie, or animating certain characters? That way it's an actual, full movie, with a full story-line, instead of just snippets of work.

MarcK responds:

I don't think you're right on the inflation bullshit.. =/

It's a project. You're taking it as if each short deserves these scores, which they dont, but some people like it when it's collaborated and vote well. It's not off of an equation. Your theory there, me thinks, is bullshit. :P

Thanks for the advice, the review, and a bit of help, I guess.

Collaboration?

Well, seperately everything would have been alright (the angel scenes being the best pieces of artwork) but the way you put everything together doesn't really make any sense. Thinking about a sword fight, random white lines grabbing things, blowing up fuzzy animals, etc, supposedly condemned an angel? Just didn't work.

If the point of this piece is that an angel is condemned for these "thoughts", I'd suggest doing research and making the "thoughts" fit the religion he's supposed to be damned from. Then perhaps unite the general artwork in the collab so it isn't so drastically different.

MarcK responds:

Stream of Conciousness is a fucked up thing with random elements implemented. That wasn't the past story condemming an angel. The plot of the collab was him going to hell. The entries were his mind, or another concept you can come up with, which you have. But you say it doesn't make sense. That means you haven't come up with a GOOD meaning for an abstract project. He wasn't condemned for the thoughts... If I had done anything like that, I would have done that, but it was a collab, if you'll notice.
