....the original game i have to say the ship fires slower,....enough for it to become detrimental compared to the original. Speed that up a bit and you have a classic.

Thanks for the constructive critisism. I have speeded up the firing rate by removing a delay. I think it definately improves the game.

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, I don't think that this game will get on the front page unless I dramatically improve it and re-submit it at a later date. Although I am not sure what newgrounds policy is on resubmitting stuff.
It was okay
It could have been better. The audio was wierd, and so were the sound effects. And the bullet got close to my side without touching and still blew me up.

In what way do you think it could be better? If let me know, then maybe I can change the game accordingly (as long as I am technically capable). I tend to agree with you that some of the sound effects don't suit the game. The explosion sfx were done on a synth by a friend of mine and are not really suitable. Instead I have just found some proper explosion sounds on the web for free, and included them in the new game update. They are far from ideal, but they will have to do for now.
Nicely done.
The world didn't need another Space Invaders variant, but this is pretty good. The attacking saucers is a nice twist. The music bothers me a little. It isn't really action game music.

I agree that no-one want another space invaders game cos there are hundreds of them and they are all mostly crap. This game was never originally intended to be published on the web. I started it simply as a project to help me learn actionscript. But then I thought that it had become good enough for me to upload onto newgrounds. I agree that the music is not perfectly suited to this game, I would prefer some fast paced dance music.
Good for first try
You did very good for a first attempt. My suggestions are if you are going to use a preexisting game as a concept, try to add somthing original (the fireworks like explosions of the enemies was cool stuff like that) also the way you shoot would have been a lot better if you could just hold it down. and continue with the backgrounds the spacey look added a lot of feel to it.

You can now just hold down spacebar to continue firing and the firing rate is considerably speeded up because I removed a delay that prevened you from firing too fast. I think that this change improves the game.
