Not bad, even if a little derivative.

It's an okay Mario clone, if not a bit graphics intensive. While I'm collecting those, what I assume might be condoms, the action starts to chug. Maybe you should consider putting in a quality adjustment option in there as well as one for sound effects and music. The chugging can be very annoying.

The powerups are okay too, I guess. The girl one acts as a bunch of bonus points for those who don't know. What I said above are the only real problems, besides that' everything's somewhat adequate.

Okay, review time.

The first level of the game was pretty short. I understand you're basing it off of Super Mario Brothers, but I would like to have seen more. That, and the way the controls worked left something to be desired. It was really easy to skid off of things and some of the jumps were long enough that you had to be right at the edge of something to make it.

I never figured out what being turned into a girl did for you, but the couple of times I was Bra-Man was pretty cool 'cause I could hit things at a distance.

Pluses:
* If you're familiar with the strip, you get the humor.
* The music was entertaining without being annoying.
* Entertaining enough to leave me asking for more.
* Smooth animation and clean graphics.
* Simple controls; not a huge learning curve.

Minuses:
* You die ridiculously easy, mostly by falling because Rayne doesn't jump that far and you've got to be almost at the edge of something to make some of the jumps.
* You've got unlimited lives. I'm assuming that this is to compensate for dying ridiculously easy.
* Oversensitive controls (i.e. lots of skidding).
* Can't move very well when jumping.
* Feels a little too Super Mario Brothers and I would like to have seen something more original.

Overall, I'm going to give this a 6. Lord knows I love Blind Ferret Entertainment and have a lot of respect and affection for both Lar and Ryan, but you two really could have done something better.

Before i reveiw... you can really tell the difference between LICD fans and some one who has never visted the site before.
I caught the video sohmer posted a while back of the RayneWorld an you could tell it was based around the mario concept. Which is never a bad thing. Simple yet highly effective. Love mario, Love Rayne an adding bra-man in there was a huge plus for me.
Gameplay was fun and carnt wait for full game. Mix of evil chracters that generally make you laugh cause youve always wanted a chance to jump on a few religious heads without the chance of being chased down a street by a congration of choir folk.
Only flaw is that its laggy when you collect golden condoms.
In all i like the gameplay and can not wait to see the finished product or what sohmer has thought up as a boss. If fighting religions high ranks are normal monsters in this game it would be fun to see rayne kick some deity behind.

And i think you should've gone with a choose your own adventure type thing. But regardless, not too bad but it could've done with power-ups showing up more often
