Reviews for "~SW~ Mental Overload"

Unconventional

Something that I like and something that could prove to be very versatile, with the range of pieces that it could be included in. Abstract pieces, that interpret the music could have an absolute field day with a piece like this.

You've categorised it fine under the genre of Miscellaneous, though it might branch a little into ambient, were you to spend a little longer on there and push to lengthen the track by a minute or perhaps 90 seconds.

I think that would be the only issue I have with the track - it's too short for the amount of variation that you've thrown in there. Consider spending more time blending from one style to another and even developing each individual part into a more structured verse section, which could help your grasp of the individual components.

As abstract audio goes, this is one of the best!

Cool, thanks for the review! I'll be sure to try to put a short ambient in there, I had actually been thinking of doing that next. Unfortunately, the full version will have to be postponed a bit for a song I'm making for a worldwide competition. I'll be sure to take your advice into consideration when completing this, and I'll definitely be sure to put it up so you can see how it ended up!

Jazzy/ Mysterious :p

I really like this piece man; seriously reminds me of music for a Sonic The Hedgehog/ Sly Cooper game! I love the overall feel, and mysterious tones/ melodies.

The bass-line is really fat, and I love how well the guitar samples blended in; although I'm not a huge fan of fl slayer you really pulled it off! :] The drum beats were fresh, and progressive as fck :] I can tell you put a lot into this song!

Things to take a second look at:
- I think that the composition, and musical organization is perfect here; The sample quality on the other hand is a big issue (Find some fresher samples for this song, and I'm pretty sure it would be PERFECT for a plat-former video game)

Overall; REALLY sick :]

Thanks for the review, man!

Also, guess what? The samples aren't from Slayer. They're actually mixed samples from Kontakt. I could upload a version that actually uses FL Slayer so you could hear the difference.

Overall though, thanks for the words of confidence, I'll be sure to finish this at some point (though I'm a bit busy with something else at the moment. Got invited to a composition competition, and I'm going to put in something much deeper and pour everything good that I've got into it).

Mystery Jazz

Reminds me of Final Fantasy VIII a lot actually since they played a lot of music like this for most places where you were embarking on an adventure at actually. Very classy jazz feeling song though making it all pretty cool I think. The tune is pretty nice and retro in aspect though so good work there.

The bass has a very funky feel to it giving the song a cool feel to it. The drumming thing I hear whirring about gives a feel that something is flying past overhead as well. The chorus gives a feel of dynamic things taking place too. The crystal bell like sounds give a feel of cool things. I also liked the guitar that was added giving the song a touch of rock to it.

Overall, neat song.

Weird, but in a good way

This is a very weird song, but it's fun to listen to it. The beginning is a bit slow, but luckily the song picks up after about 20 seconds.
I really like the background melody here. It sounds somewhat familiar, but I can't put my finger on it where I might have heard it before.

The only thing that bothers me is that the song is so damn short. Only 1:17... you should make it a lot longer! ;)

SkyeWint responds:

Oh, I'll definitely be making this longer. This is a work-in-progress, and you can be sure that I'll be putting the full version up for review.
