Intriguing

It was gutsy of you to take this in such an artsy direction. When the competition asked to animate to the mood of the song, you could have easily picked a different song, and done some more humorous things with it.

But honestly, that's what you always do. Don't get me wrong. We love you for it. But I personally like that you wanted to do something a little more... out there.
There were some nice touches in there. Such as the transitions:
Pixel man = freehand background
Freehand man = pixel background

I like that you edited the song slightly too. That makes your submission already that much more unique than the others.
It didn't perform too well on Newgrounds. But best of luck to you in the TOFA!

Really...different

I liked it a lot.
The animation was okay but the music is what made it worth watching.
You should of credited that song because it sounds like something worth listening to.
Good job

neat

It's very nice, I like the concept.

Cool

I think I understood what the author wanted to show here.
The main character doesn't feel in harmony with his environment, he is always different and doesn't fit in (when he is smooth-edged, everything is pixelated and when he's pixelated, everything is smooth-edged).
However when he comes back into his home, sits on his couch, he finally feels complete; as if his world was finally balanced.
The music fits well with the animations (discordant, dissonant and standing out).

Good job.

Hits the nail on the head.

I love your work (still.) Sorry I asked what program you use. Glad to hear you're back from the army and alive and just as sane as you were before your tour and stuff. Also, I just read the guidelines to reviewing and that wasn't enough to meet them, so here's this: I find the animation here was based on a very simple concept (balance: pixels vs. not pixels) and that it may have been easy to run with, but that you ran with it well. If it hadn't been for the music, maybe it wouldn't have gone so well, but I really love the way it was all put together. Sometimes things go out of balance and that's just the way it sounds/feels. As far as the guidelines for the contest went, you nailed it. An overall seven out of ten if I were a stingy, nearly deaf judge that didn't like how easy the concept was to animate. An eight out of ten for the contest as a judge that is capable of listening and thinking. A personal nine out of ten for my appreciation of this and other works of yours. An actual 8 because it's the median of my three views on this piece.
