Reviews for "12 FU's Of Online Gaming"

technically made sense...

but ur execution of it was immature and childish at best. Rants are hardly ever appreciated unless they are done well, also there wasn't much flash in that so it is better saved for youtube...

ForFun808 responds:

Well its either ranting or a BORING video blog with a monotoned slow voice, and I'm sure most people don't want that. I use a lot of energy into making these videos, plus I add cool effects to them, which is why most like them!

The good, the bad, and the truth

Lets start with the good. You can tell you put a good bit of thought and work into this, and you have done a good job of putting it together. You did throw in a few graphics and other items outside of the pure video content. But thats where you stopped.

NG does have non-animation submissions, but usually they do have some kind of use of Flash enhancements, other content etc. Even if you took clips of online matches (even staged ones) showing examples of what you were talking about with maybe some text thrown in there, it would have been a great improvement. The work has to be visually stimulating also, and getting creative flipping off the camera while moving your arms around doesn't really cut it. Thats the bad.

The truth is, you have a good concept here and some funny/true material that people can relate to. But your presentation is poor at best. Be creative and add more to it than just you in your room talking. In this case your easiest and best bet is to show examples of each "Fuck You" while your talking. It gives the viewer something interesting to watch while enjoying your audio commentary. It could be as simple as MORE added text and images, or recordings of you and your friends playing games demonstrating what your talking about.

And this may sound like a small thing, but do some work to it next time before porting it over to Newgrounds. Leaving a youtube logo up in the corner may not seem like much, but it shows your lack of polish and time taken to make the video presentable for a different audience. The little things do make a difference. I would maybe go as far to even say if you didn't film the entire thing in your room, and did it in segments in different areas it would of at least added some variety to your video.

I encourage you to go back, remake this with the same script/ideas and put some more time into the visuals and polish. Till then 2 of 5, and 5 of 10. Good luck.

I agreed with most of it

Tho some of it didn't apply to me.

On most subjects you targeted the more FPS like games where you can kill your own mates. I play MMORPG and I haven't run into a mmo game like it ...at least not yet. I don't play my games with a mic ever and i usually have have the sound on the game off ,so if someone did say something annoying to me i wouldn't know.

People shouldn't be mean and label others. Especially the newbies. I doubt most people even know the difference between a "n00b" and a "newbie". A n00b is an arrogate asshole that just playing the game 5 mins ago and think they know everything ,so they run around insulting everyone else (usually calling THEM a "n00b"). A newbie is one to ask for help, and that does seem annoying (depending on how tho go about) ,but they always thankful for help, advice, and suggests. :)

Now a few times I have had to beg ,myself, because sometimes you just need a hand out. I've never picked one person and consistently bugged the crap out of them ,though.

People the hack, and take the games too seriously ESPECIALLY ruin the game! Why bother if you're going to hack? It's about having fun ,and there's no fun it that. To me ,hackers are just assholes that like pissing people off when they're trying to have a good time. People take online games too seriously must have miserable lives to go around like the "authority" of the game scene they don't have people to care about them irl. I'm not saying that's true for all of them ,but they sure at that way.

Anyway, this vid is great. Despite the low video Q ,and sound it was seeable and hearable. I lol'd when you started getting "fansy" with the FU numbers, but you hit all points!

5/5 and 10/10
Happy Gaming ,my botha!

Good feedback. Well in RTS games there is also back stabbing :(, and other genres as well.

As for hacking and cheating, you know the saying. No game is complete, if you CHEAT!

'Twas Okay.

Fuck You #1 - Don't just straight up convert your shit from youtube.

Since you moved live action into flash, why not take advantage of flash's benefits. Create a chapter select, a next button, fast forward, something. You could have hidden bonus Fuck Yous as easter eggs. That would be pretty cool. It would make us feel like you really respect and understand Flash and Newgrounds. And it would make it seem like you put extra work into it for us, instead of just having a friend convert the formats. What we don't want is an influx of people posting shit from Youtube into Newgrounds, so if you're gonna do it, DO IT RIGHT!

As for the video . . .

I'm barely familiar with online gaming, but the video was well developed, pointed, and with a pretty good write. I can't really comment on plot, characters, or lighting, but your sound was quite good, and the actor had a good voice, with nice levels and gestures.

Well done, but still. Fuck You. :)

i agree with all of that!!!

i think you sortve mentioned it but i'd of said:

when you beat someone to an item (eg. pick up a rocket before your teammate in a halo match)
when they will betray you, willing to cost your team points, then take your item, then dont even score anything with it

great vid anyway!
