Angry Flash-Game Nerd 4

This game should have been one of the greats here on Newgrounds. It has an easy-to use save system, has quality, well-drawn art-work, and more than that, is an RPG. Everyone loves little online RPG's that have about 3, maybe 4 hour play times. Especially when they involve swords and blacksmiths who kick serious ass.

In the end however, this game flopped into sickening mediocrity. That is not to say that this game is bad, no, there are far worse RPG's, that is to say however that this game has absolutely nothing new to offer the gaming community here on Newgrounds. This observation, in and of itself, does not warrant the low score I have given this game, it is this observation combined with all the other things done wrong.

First of all the story-line was weak, the best RPG's here have strong, if somewhat simplistic story-lines. It is important to note that if you have more than one screen FILLED with text, chances are people will not read it, and it will just be a pointless fighting bash. This is not bad, however, the fighting system is so slow and cumbersome. Second of all, too many mouse clicks were involved. One click for melee, another for sword strike, another for which enemy, and then some weird mystical attack bar. Four clicks, then I miss, and have to do it all over again. I stopped playing the game not because it was hard, but because it was tedious.

Then there are all the things lacking in the game. No character customization, no map, no traveling, no weapon upgrades, no armor upgrades, no pets, nothing worth buying at the shop but an amalgam of highly priced potions and alchemical items. The above things are not just gimmicks, they are a source of variety that help people become enthralled in your game. I wont say that they are all necessary, but some would certainly be nice.

The addition of new party members was one of the few saving graces of this game, since variety was lacking in so many other areas. The art and animation were also done superbly well. With this in mind, I can say that this game feels as though an artist or an author made this game, but not a game designer. In order to solve this problem, I would suggest lurking and posting on the forums for game design tips, or just looking at other games here on Newgrounds. There are lots of good examples. Just look.

said whats?

GEEZ! this guy reeeally needs to work on his grammar. also there should be weapons and armor that you can buy, and the mp potions should be more effective. the summon animations were good but the rest could use some work. the climax was weakened by the bad grammar, and how do the people still talk once they've dissappeared? a bit confusing

Well i thought wrong

when i opened this game i thought, hm another turn based game, well, i normally like turn based games, and then i played this. the story should suck me in and make up for the gameplay but no, it doesn't, and i'm left with the empty shell of a game because i don't want to fight off thieves because "this is a public road" i have seen better from ule bole movies

Honestly to make this game better i would suggest making combat more enjoyable and adding a better story line
