Very, very addictive.
Great game! Design and gameplay work very nice together.
The only thing that annoys me a bit is the fact that you still get useless extra ships and upgrades, even if your lives/weapons of this kind are at their limit.
At least make them give you points or, even better, let them disappear if your weapons/lives are at max.

I thought it was well balanced as you gained power-ups. I'm assuming you have a scaling ability that reactes to the number of power-ups you have at once? Challenging but fun, and if you do well and get a lot of the pick-ups, you can kick some ass.
