Reviews for "Neo v Smith"

meh

well that was boring as hell, another tired burly brawl scene that wasnt even that amazing, everything looked rambled some of the action with the pole i spose was good

LeviFolds responds:

Not even going to think about my response to this one...

Ugh...

If this was made 4 years ago, it probably would of been much more exciting to see. However, that's not really the true reason why I'm grading it a 4.

The 2 real reasons why I'm downgrading it was 1) Repetition just spewed out from this movie, and 2) "Your own sounds" please?

Lets start with number 1. The problem with this fight was that you made the character do too many of the same moves, and you made him jump a lot. Some of the jumps he even made were just completely pointless, like Neo would jump in the air, but wouldn't hit anyone. If you were using those jumps as dodges, then you should of just made him dodge on the ground instead. That would of probably been twice as better than just to see him jump in the air. Ok, the problem I had with the repetition was that it wasn't rapid repetition. All the other flash movies you see about this particular fight and the ACTUAL movie fight itself was rapid succession of hits from Neo, but this fight was way too slow for my tastes. It just didn't seem "Matrix" enough to me.

Ok, now lets tackle the sound area. Well to sum it all up basically, you used a preset sound based on the track that was being played from the movie itself. Which means, that the only way that your movie would of sounded synchronized was if you had made all the hits that happened in this flash movie line up with the preset sound track of the movie, and the problem is that it wasn't synced, and it seemed like you didn't even attempt to do so, which made the movie sound awkward everytime Neo didn't hit someone when a hit sound was made. You need to put in some sound effort just like everyone else who's made a good matrix flash movie, if you want yours to be on their level as well, if not higher.

Well, I guess my favorite part about this whole flash movie was at the very end, when you made Neo burst out of the enemies for the 2nd time.... which actually kind of brings me to another thing that didn't seem to go right in this movie, which was the fact that you made him burst out of the Smiths twice, instead of once. The reason that it was so awesome in the actual movie was because he burst out of the movie at the very end, and it was such a shocker to see all the smith's fly around, but since you did it twice in this flash movie, the 2nd time wasn't as appealing to watch as it was the 1st time it came around. Some repetition is good, but some particular things, repeated even after only once, will lose its appeal by that many folds.

So uhm, overall, it wasn't anything that I haven't already seen. There wasn't anything too new about it, except for the fact that they were unique sprites, and that's about it.

LeviFolds responds:

The sounds are pretty well synced on my computer - I would check into your computer specs to make sure it can handle a movie this awesome. Also, I think most people will agree that syncing an animation with the original sound is a lot more difficult than adding your own sound effects.

As for repetition, I used sprites, of which there were 114 for Neo and 92 for Smith. I used every single one of these sprites in the movie but consider that it is three minutes long. Neo jumps a lot, I got that, but honestly, if you were surrounded by 200 of the same guy, you would be jumping around a lot, too.

And I think just because other people have done Matrix spoofs before doesn't mean you should vote down on others' submissions. "If this was made 4 years ago" shouldn't be a condition of review. Who cares when it was made, you're reviewing the animation, not it's "fantastic timing in the world of entertainment!"

Anyways, your method of scoring seems a bit shallow to me, but obviously you spent a good amount of time writing your review and I respect your opinion.

Good idea but not eneugh effort

Great idea actually i love sprite fights, and it moved quite smooth, however.

all you did was Re-color Ash Crimson and Oswald from the kof series and you diddent even change there movements,it was basically ill Ash vs Oswald while wearing black clothing,so no,no points for effort.
I can't just rate it low oughright because of everything else (sound smoothnes effects and all)
but I'm VERY unimpressed with your "Spriting"

LeviFolds responds:

Yes, true. Original sprites are a lot of hard work. I simply do not have time to make custom sprites. There's over 200 sprites in the movie, plus I built the background from scratch in FormZ, so, I'd say not enough effort on sprites, but fine effort in the rest of the movie...honestly, how many sprite movies have original sprites? Your score of 4 seems quite harsh for a minor detail like that, considering everything else I have done on the flash. Boo!

OK I guess

Umm.... I think you could had made it better scene 00 was good it looked like the move but you could have made the people better and I really think that would make a great game.....

not bad

it shows u put time into, but it was kind of repetitve, nothing really jumped out like "OMG that was crazy!"
Maybe if you had edited the sprites a bit, it really isnt that hard to redraw some of the pixles to make them more unique so u dont use the same moves over and over. It did seem like theeasy way out, even when he hit the wall and the bricks broke (b4 the meter being used a weapon) it looked like a few blocks of green gradients.

Overall im jsut saying u coulda put a lil more into this to make it better. Why put all that time into it and not want to make it the best you can?
