Reviews for "The Medieval Quest"

cool

but does money do anything? and if it does shouldn't you be taking a small amount of money off for dieing. anyway pretty good but what kinda weird assking has flying swords and moving spikes all over his dungeon? how do the guards make their way around in that pit of death? :D

ThomSip responds:

haha :P

and yes the money is a factor for calculating your final score when you get past lvl 5 ;)

nice

nice game but I think it's more fun with the lights on

ThomSip responds:

glad you liked it,

but I don't agree the light being off is just about the only thing wich seperates this from a lot of games.

it doesn't work!!

I click play and then it doesn't start level1

ThomSip responds:

thanks for voting 0 because there is something wrong with your computer. Look at the other reviews. Noone has problems besides you, and you go mess up my score for this. thanks....

im sorry but..

The radius light was actually done about a week ago in Zombie Castle Demo. Same idea except in that one you have to move the light yourself, and it also didn't look as good as in yours, so you can't claim originality on that. The game itself is definitely pretty good. It looks alright, the sound was key, I wasn't crazy about the movement, it seemed way too clunky, I'd prefer a more fluid motion. It would definitely be cool if you could do an RPG fight engine against guards and whatnot, it would add some spice to the game, and also leveling up the character is always a good way to go. Keep up the good work!

ThomSip responds:

about the originality, I actually saw a few tutorials using this light feature, it's one of the oldest features ever, just not very often used.

about the RPG style combat, THATS A GREAT IDEA! I might use that in a new game :D

thanks for the feedback pall

Innovative

This was actually really creative. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen a game like this before. It's really fun, but unfortunately it repeats a lot. If you were to add some things to this game, it could be front page material...if you do it right!

Scoring: Postive
+3 Orginiality
+2 Graphics
+2 Replay Value
+2 Style

Scoring: Negative
-1 Repetition
-1 Music

Overall, 7 / 10

Improvements:
1) Make the light different. If you can, make it so that you can only see down your current hallway.
2) Add torches, etc. Make it look like a dungeon
3) TRAPS. Make more TRAPS. Falling pit of doom, darts, attackable enemies, dragons, skeletons, spiders, magical exploding bomb, whatever. Please, please, oh please add more traps.
4) Make a health bar and a combat system. It would be awesome if you could fight the enemies, and without that the game feels like its missing something.
5) If you could use money to increase speed, sight, (which is the light) strength. magic, whatever you feel like adding it would definately make gameplay better.
6) Add music to get the dungeon-ish (New word?) feeling going.

Good job overall, theres a lot of room for improvement, but with time you can make it even better!

ThomSip responds:

Wow great review :D

about the light on a way that you can only see in current hallways. I happen to know a tutorial for this, but it's waaaay to complicated for me. torches, good idea. More traps, would have done that if I wasn't on such a short deadline. Health bar and combat system, read the previous reviews, I wanne do that And I will when I get better in action scripting. using money, never even occured to me, but great Idea! the music is more medieval based, dungen-ish was my second option.

Thanks for the awesome feedback :D
