Not complete, but what a start.
Yes. This took me back to Qbasic games from the olden days. The planet/rover system was very neat and super fun.
Complete this game, test it and tweak it, and you are in business.

It was nice. But I found some glitches: mouse click enables uber speed increase... with no way of slowing down... so I couldn't finish the game. An off click of the screen turned the music off... which really sucked. And your rover doesn't have any health while fighting the red blobs... add health. Also, allow the ship to be attacked too.
