just an idea

try making the walls impassable.

majikphat responds:

I'll try that.

Has Potential

I like the idea - get to the end before you fade away. As you asked, I have some ideas that may help make this game a bit better:

1) Since you are using a top-down view, why not make the walls, square, etc. a "3D" look - a little depth - maybe a "cube" instead of a flat square

2) Hitting the walls make you lose health - but how about other random /moving obstacles? To balance that off, have "power-ups" - like health regen, or opacity restore, or slow rate of opacity loss.

3) Make more than one path from the start to the goal, and put in the obstacles / power ups - and let the player decide which path is best

4) A pause feature and a high score board is always a good idea

5) How about a 2-player mode? P Vs. P (WASD and arrows) or P Vs. C (Some sort of A.I.)

6) When I'm playing, I'm focusing on the square - I don't always see the timer running out. Besides fading, when you're getting close to running out of time, maybe make the board blink a little, and possibly a warning sound?

I can appreciate the effort of making a game here, and the desire to make it better by asking for help. I hope my ideas inspire you to make some improvements, and repost this as a complete game.

Take care,
ByteSlinger

majikphat responds:

Thanks a lot. Those are all great ideas. Seriously. Thanks.

Nice

I found it a pretty fun game, although near the end levels I could just go through the walls to the finish with a decent amount of health to spare, so I recommend making more cost to health for hitting the walls.

majikphat responds:

Yeah. I hoped no one would figure that out. I'll take care of it. Thanks.

Nice

I really think this game has potential, all it needs in my opinion are some more colors and levels and maby a time limit.

majikphat responds:

A time limit is definitely a good idea. Thanks.

Feels severely incomplete...

But it's a great idea. I haven't seen any other flash game that uses the idea of gradual invisibility. In my opinion, this isn't going to stand well on its own though. If you made another game, like maybe a top-down shooter like Gauntlet, and had lots of bonus or special levels in it, it'd be pretty cool. Like maybe a level where you have to escape out of a labyrinth (after blowing up the villain's base/tower/machine that spreads some sort of toxin/chemical that detaches a person's mind from their body, thereby turning them invisible to themselves, and the person can't tell where their body is) that has damaging walls or whatever, while gradually the onscreen character turns more and more transparent.

So it's a unique idea, but you need to supplement this with other ideas and gameplay elements. This by itself isn't a very good puzzle game.

majikphat responds:

ok. Good ideas.
