i would create a new engine
there are allready enough games with this exact same engine bring something new to the flash table

Wow!
Just a test, But it's got great potential. You can't actually do anything with it yet, of course, but once you get this going it could have a lot of potential.
Make sure to add a strafe option, so I can face enemies while backing away.
Hope to see a kick-ass game come out of this!
