Reviews for "MrWalters Grand Excursion"

pretty good.

But the lack of jumping abilitys makes it much harder.

Funny game!

haha funny but deathly watch out ..

Very Impressive

You sir, have created a very good game here. I've played the first several levels and greatly enjoyed the looks, but with a few criticisms to boot...

First up, i'd just like to get this off my chest first. I miss games where I feel speedy. The first thing i thought of when i saw this was "Uh, another platformer". 3 seconds later I'm speeding along the ground at super-sonic speeds with the rabbit's little furry bits playing catch-up three hundred yards behind him. Speed platformers are great, and i have seen precious few since Sonic the Hedgehog.
That said, there was an incredibly disappointing aspect to it that could've helped tremendously - perspective. Like when Howard Hughes made the film "Hells Angels", he waited for months to get some clouds so when the planes flew, people knew how fast they were travelling. Sometimes you think you are calmly trundling along, only to whizz off a platform at three thousand miles per hour and straight into a wall.

Another minor, but irritating little quirk were the elevators. I love getting full completion on things, but as early as the 2nd level, I was accidentally running into teh end elevator before i had a chance to get all the carrots. I'd think this would be very easy to change, so pressing "up" would go in"...?

For music, I really liked the sound. It suited the game very well, for menu, level menu and game (although the latter may grate on the nerves after a while!).

There are a whole host of other suggestions and ideas (e.g. being able to jump, "cat-springs" when abseiling up walls) but they're all pretty minor. The last two easily fixed ones though would be A) better traction (very slippy at the moment!) and B) a more zoomed - out perspective (or alternatively a map level, similar to those used in "Lemmings" to show you where you are). Reason for this being, I often didn't know quite where to head, and got a little frustated every time i banged into a wall.

I see loads of potential in this game to be even better than it is already. I actually quite liked the grappling hook (it was pretty reliable in practice), but the biggest and easiest changes lie with the layout around it.

To summarise, I really enjoyed playing around on this game. It captivated me for at least 10-15 minutes (which is extremely good for my attention span!). If you were to improve this though, I'd be very happy to play it again and give another review (and maybe play it for longer!)
